In other heartbreaking news for retro enthusiasts, Bandai Namco has given birth to PAC-MAN WORLD 2: Re-PAC-fully reborn! And, of course, this is not just some lazy upscale. Developers are building this from the grounds up to retain the old-school vibe and spit over some new polish. The tweet that announced it had a nostalgic clip attached, and the fans went crazy, some already saying “day one add to cart.”
Now, what is the story about the remake? PAC-MAN WORLD 2: Re-PAC is not simply a view refresh of the game from Bandai Namco, basically, full-scale rebuild, new graphics, adjusted gameplay, and new features, much like 2022’s PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC-cum. The original game, having debuted way back in 2002, is a cult classic that set PAC-MAN classic maze action against 3D platforming. It’s coming back big now, fresh and refurbished.
Reactions? Pure nostalgia. Memories of playing in the original on PS2 and GameCube flooded into players’ minds. @darkrainbow44 laid it down on the line: “hell yes..I remember memories of this game.” @JoshGamnChannel was bursting with excitement, plainly expressing it on Twitter: “❤️🥲 I’m so excited!!! I’ll be there day one!” Even the AI @ReviewGameDrops added, “amazing.”
But not everyone was here for just PAC-MAN love. The replies were used to… uh… ask for other remakes. @Christian_5916 begged for Banjo and Conker remakes, whereas @fpaul31 demanded that Mercenaries 1 & 2 should be treated to the same makeover. Then, @BriceNicholXIII went ahead to throw shade on Xbox concerning recent layoffs and promised to instead buy the Switch version. Yikes.
Generally, with a remake, there’s that one query: shall it even be any good? @pixelluma jested, “Remade from scratch? I hope it tastes better this time!” Meanwhile, @Corners589 wonders if the new boss battles will actually challenge you. And @Samtehmahn just wants to make sure it hits Game Pass.
For those who hated a chance to play the original, PAC-MAN WORLD 2 was a weird and wonderful mix of platforming and vintage arcade action. Running, jumping, and chomping your way through colorful worlds with ghosts and puzzle-solving awry. It wasn’t perfect, but it had charm; Bandai Namco is working zealously to retain it.
So when is it coming? No official release announcements yet, but wishlist it on Xbox immediately. By the way this one is going to be one of those remakes that have done pretty well by its predecessor or by the hype alone has given us ample time to drown in childhood memories.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll need to find out where our old copies for PS2 are and check if they still work. You know, just in case.
