Monster Hunter: World started out the year strong with the Iceborne expansion that it had recently implemented. Though there were more than a few glitches and gameplay issues that came accompanied with it, as there always seems to be, the title has still been a massive success.
Of course, there’s no time to rest on your laurels in the gaming world, and you’re always going to be moving forward. The developers at Capcom have another major update on the way, Title Update 2.
Title Update 2 brings quite a few new features to the game, as well as numerous additions to keep things interesting. Our focus today is the two new monsters that are being added to the game for hunters to track down, capture, and loot.
The first of these monsters is the Stygian Zinogre. Quests featuring the Zinogre can be unlocked by talking to the Seeker in Seliana after having both beaten the game and unlocking the volcanic region of the Guiding Lands. Along with the Stygian Zinogre comes a new weapon pendant, the Stygian Zinogre Claws, which is unlocked by completing all quests given to you by the seeker. The Claws aren’t the only new equipment additions, though; new Stygian Zinogre Hunter and Palico equipment have been added to the title if you can bring down enough Stygian Zinogres to complete the sets.
Second, the Safi’jiiva has been added to the game, which can be unlocked by taking the “??? Recon” assignment from Pub Lass in the Gathering Hub. Beginning the investigation is a special assignment that can only be posted or joined from the Gathering Hub, and can be completed multiple times. The Safi’jiiva Siege will become available at midnight UTC time on Friday, March 20th, challenging players to track and slay the Safi’jiiva.
Additionally, new Safi’jiiva hunter and Palico equipment have been added to the store, built from the parts of the Safi’jiiva that you’ll take as you track down the beast. Along with the addition of this gear, Awakened weaponry can be obtained as rewards from the Siege. Finally, the Tundra Region is being unlocked in the Guiding Lands for hunters brave enough to tackle the new environment.
There are quite a few major additions coming that we’ll discuss in a later article as well, so keep your eye out. The patch goes live on March 14th, giving us plenty of time to prepare for our new hunts and work towards getting everything in order to brave the Tundra.
