Marvel fans have long dreamed about a video game that featured their favorite superhero group. There have been a couple of decent games that have attempted to recreate the Marvel movies, but very rarely do they have any sustaining impact on the gaming community. That could all change with the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers.

This action-adventure game by Crystal Dynamics is looking like a pretty competent superhero game out of the gate. There are a lot of iconic characters that will be playable at launch, including Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America.

The developer has already shown trailers of gameplay of the various heroes, and thus far, the footage is promising. Each one has a unique set of skills that will make moving and fighting with enemies a novel experience each time. We’ve seen Thor wield his iconic hammer and summon lightening bolts down on opponents.

Hulk has been shown smashing through rock and debris, sending a wave of force at enemies. Even Captain America looks to be a compelling character to play with. Even though this game was delayed as to give the developer more time to complete the finishing touches, it is nice to know that a beta is right around the corner.

And for those that pre-order any addition of Marvel’s Avengers for the PS4, they’ll be granted access to the beta first. That’s great news if you want to be one of the first gamers to take these superheroes out for a test-drive until the game officially releases this September.

When you do pre-order this game for the PS4, you’ll also be treated to an exclusive nameplate, a Marvel Legacy Outfit Pack, and many other goodies. So if you know you want to check out this game or just are a Marvel fan, getting your pre-order in today is a great idea.

We’re now just a couple of months away from Marvel’s Avengers. Even if you’re not a fan of the alternative versions of the superheroes that Marvel fans have come to know and love on the silver screens, that doesn’t mean these characters can’t do a great job. Sure, it will be hard for some to make the switch — but at least their costumes and gameplay mechanics look spot on from what we’ve seen in the comics and movies.
