Let’s discuss what the tournament is all about first. Marvel Rivals Ignite 2025 is going to be a huge thing in the competitive scene of the game where all the players try to prove that they are the best of the best. The qualifiers are split into two halves so that in case one misses one, you get a second chance. The devs promoting competitive play very hard doesn’t seem to sit well with the community.
Almost gone now, Rivals! Marvel Rivals gave the last opportunity to get in for the first split of the Ignite 2025 Tournament. And now the clock is ticking down. If you have been nosediving in the fence, this is probably your last chance to enter into the competitive realm. Registration ends on May 21 at 6 PM local time (UTC-4 / UTC+2 / UTC+9 / UTC+11). Miss it? Cool! Split 2 will open on May 26. But while the excitement surrounding the tournament is very real, the replies to the announcement? My goodness, that’s a whole other matter.
Let’s discuss the tournament first. Marvel Rivals Ignite 2025 is going to be one of the big events in the competitive scene of the game where all the players try to prove that they are the best of the best. The qualifications are split into two halves, so in case you miss the first one, you get a second chance. But while the devs promote competitive play with so much energy, the community response is… well, mixed.
Scrolling through the replies feels like walking into a battlefield. There is nothing holding them back. The main complain? EOMM. Yes, the system that was supposed to tweak matches to keep players on their toes is the one players are saying is losing potential players. “Take out EOMM and you guys will have the best shooter of the year,” says YBNKujo. And they are obviously not the only ones—several others are just outright telling the devs to scrap it, with PlayStation even going as far as to say, “Look at your fucking comments, everybody wants you to get rid of EOMM.” Ouch.
Now, on the Black Panther side of things, TaigaMLP said, “I’d love to play but sadly my main character Black Panther is unplayable at the moment!” Oof. That is bad for BP mains, especially with hit registration issues also showing their face. Seth (ToTheVilla) was pretty clear too: “No cross progression is crazy, also y’all gotta do somethin bout the hit reg for BP. It’s like it gets worse every update.”
And Mr. Fantastic? Good God, the rage is REAL. JW (yetisnephew) went fully caps lock: “Get off your lazy ass and fix Mr. Fantastic. An attacker doesn’t need those skills. Shit4brains.” SirDaveon followed that up with, “Mr Fantastic needs a fucking nerf—a move that you don’t have to aim that stops all movement abilities and he has no downsides?”
The matchmaking is pretty bad too. Gojo (ALAXASAX) complained, “Have got the worst teammates ever the last week and I’m playing against high-ranking people who are super sweaty. The game is not enjoyable—fix the fucking matchmaking.” Edge of Chaos (savetheking45) added, “Fix your matchmaking. Makes me want to play less of the game and don’t purchase anything at all.” Yikes.
On the bright side are some players who are still hyped for it. dan (stealblade_) just wants “classic Storm and Emma please,” and Łukasz Puchala wonders, “Ghost Rider and Blade? When?” Then there is the person just outright calling the game dead because of “racist weekly skins.” Uh… okay then.
So what’s the gist? The grand spotlight of Marvel Rivals Ignite 2025 has thrust the community into having some very clear opinions about the status of the game currently. These ongoing discussions about EOMM, character balance, and matchmaking with the backside and noise from players are some of the things being screamed by the players. Will devs listen? That would be a timely thing to know in the next few months. If you want to get in there and compete, you better hurry up, though, because registration won’t wait for you. And if you miss the registration? Lucky for you, Split 2 is beckoning. Maybe Mr. Fantastic won’t be public enemy number one by then. Maybe.
