With the news that Battlefield 6’s reveal is arriving in June, it seems like many players are opting to head back into its predecessor, Battlefield V. Thanks to recent Steam sales, the game arriving on PlayStation+, and hype around the Battlefield franchise, the game’s servers are busier than they have been for months.

If you’ve played Battlefield V in the past couple of months you would have no doubt noticed how empty many of the servers are. Player numbers hover around the 30-40 mark, even on some of the more popular servers.

Plagued with problems since its release, Battlefield V has been a controversial title, and not one of the more acclaimed games in the franchise. That being said, its final content update – with maps from the Pacific – was pretty well received.

Plenty of posts on social media from fans of the game show off how busy the servers currently are. PlayStation is the driving force behind the game’s sudden resurgence – Battlefield V recently arrived as part of PlayStation+, and there’s no doubt the servers are busier on the console than on any other platform.

If you’re yet to check out Battlefield V and own a PlayStation, this is the best time to download the game and play. There are several popular Grand Ops servers that are running at the maximum player count, something of a rarity for at least a year or so now.

Most of the players will also be brand new to the game, ideal if you’re just starting out with Battlefield. It’s a good time to get prepared for Battlefield 6 which, I expect, will be one of the largest game launches of the year.

Unfortunately, you’re still likely to come across hackers if you’re playing on PC. This has been a long-running problem with the game but not one that EA or DICE has really addressed. Their focus is on Battlefield 6.

With more news expected about Battlefield 6 in the coming weeks, fans of the series are looking forward to a fresh start for the franchise, and many will hope that DICE has learned from the disastrous reception of Battlefield V.

You can download and play Battlefield V now if you’re on PlayStation and have a PlayStation+ subscription. Other games that have arrived this month include the popular survival game Stranded Deep and the demolition derby game Wreckfest.
