There’s some thunder around internships with Insomniac and SIE to seize that summer vibe, and well, these lucky ones got to be DIRT under the Marvel Wolverine and a plethora of other cool projects! The studio enthusiastically took to Twitter to share the news, calling it an opportunity to “push the boundaries of play together.”
Then came the Wolverine talk. The game was revealed in 2021, and since then, quiet as a day at the X-Mansion. The player’s thirst for updates went beyond that tweet which might not have been a gameplay reveal but surely confirmed the project is on.
The responses were a mixed bag, naturally. Some gamers were just happy to see a mention of Wolverine–@Mysticalftbl tweeted: “Finally the Wolverine game has been mentioned π.” Others were impatient: @justv11098 said, “For the love of god, stop announcing things so early in the future. This has been announced in 2021, and wonβt come out anytime soon Iβm guessing.” Ouch.
Others just completely shunned the intern news and proceeded to ask for other games: @pushplar and @Edgamer85411201 basically asked Insomniac for the same thing: “Venom game ππ” and “When will it be the venom game,” respectively. Then @PigeonGoGaming went on to joke about begging the interns to organize some kind of PsyOp to fool Insomniac into bringing back Resistance.
Then came the creatives from the VR side. Several responses, mostly from @futureVrking, roasted Insomniac for never digging back into VR: “Pushing the boundaries of flat gaming is like pushing the boundaries of stick figure drawing. Meanwhile Iβm in the renaissance era.” Harsh, but hey, passion is passion.
As for the internship, a potential intern also inquired: @Roy9637 asked if the offer was only open for U.S. applicants. No answer yet, but if Sony is indeed a global company, then the chances for international applicants are there.
What should one put down on the table from this? Insomniac is on the cook; Wolverine is (probably) going to happen; gamers have never gotten any more impatient or chaotic. Whether you are here for the wicket hype, the Wolverine crumbs, or just watching the drama unfold with a bowl of popcorn, there is one thing that is for sure: Insomniac is very much on its plate, and gamers are watching.
Now, could we just get a real Wolverine update… with, y’know, actual gameplay? With a release date, perhaps? Anything, really? Please?
