Despite delays to the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion, Blizzard is still chugging along with the Beta to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. Recently, they brought a fix for Beta testers specifically.
To be clear, what we’re discussing here isn’t going to be a live change to World of Warcraft or World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. This change was implemented specifically for Beta testers.
Blizzard has given a sizeable buff to the experience that players receive in the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands beta. Players will have their quest experience improved by a massive 40% bonus experience!
This experience buff seems to only apply to quests and quest turn-ins, though. From the way the buff is worded, it seems not to affect the experience one gains from resource gathering via professions or killing mobs.
The primary reason for this seems to be that the leveling through Ardenweald and Revendreth was working much slower than intended. As a result, Beta testers weren’t able to finish out the zones properly and were being forced to grind out the rest of a level to be able to leave at the right point.
“As we work through issues that are making leveling through Ardenweald and Revendreth slower than intended, we’ve seen some Beta testers reach a point where they have to spend extra time finding XP in order to complete the Revendreth campaign,” the developers wrote via their blue post announcement on the forums yesterday.
To be clear, this isn’t their absolute solution to the problem – they’re adamant that this is a quick hotfix in order to make sure that the players have a proper leveling experience. That way, they’re able to continue testing and finding everything that they need to help improve the full release.
“We’re creating a more comprehensive fix, and that’s going to take a few days, but in the meantime, this is a Beta hotfix that boosts quest experience in Ardenweald and Revendreth, so that testers can have a smoother leveling experience in the meantime,” Blizzard finishes their statement.
It’s unclear what the fix will be with the expansion’s release, but it’s a safe bet that we’ll see the fix live on the Beta before too long. In the quote above, they state that it’ll take “a few days,” so players shouldn’t be worried about this fix.
Still, if you’re a Beta tester who’s been struggling to properly complete Revendreth or Ardenweald, it’s a perfect time to head back to those zones and test them out properly. With any luck, such a massive increase to quest experience will make sure that the testing goes much smoother.
