The call has gone out, Super Earth is under attack, and the Helldivers everywhere are scrambling for their pods. The official PlayStation tweet sent shockwaves through the community, with a dramatic alert that could be the biggest call to arms in Helldivers 2 so far. Paired with an exciting video, the tweet cried: “Helldivers, your home planet needs you—report to your pods and get ready to drop.”

And drop they did, with replies pouring in from every corner of the gaming world, from hype soldiers ready to defend democracy (or die trying) to some very perplexed spectators. PlayStation Canada chimed in with, “In orbit now and ready to drop!” PlayStation France and PlayStation Italy expressed similar sentiments in their respective tongues. Even PlayStation Portugal is not holding back on saving Super Earth.

The whole world, however, does not seem to have enjoyed it. Gamers like @MikeMalandra just commented, “you couldn’t pay me to play this shit,” whereas someone like @ForbiddenHerb93 was a little bit more polite: “Put it on sale I might buy it just to kill bugs in small sessions then that’s it.” Fair enough. Meanwhile, @kapoonzo wasted no time jumping in, demanding The Last of Us Part II for free because… well, no reason really.

The real stars remain the Helldivers. @blazehunter696 let out a full-cap battle cry: “OH MAN TIME TO SPREAD DEMOCRACY LIKE PEANUT BUTTER ON TOAST NO RETREATING NO FALLING BACK WE HOLD WHAT WE GOT BOYS AND GIRL FOR SUPER EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Something is wrong if that doesn’t get you hyped.

Then came the dramas. @TheVenomzin called PlayStation out for locking down Helldivers 2 in over 100 countries and demanded support for the abandoned regions. Others, like @kald19986, echoed the complaints: “How about you unlock the regions you blocked the game in?” Oof.

Amidst all that drama, one thing shines through: Helldivers 2 has got a solid grip on its players. Be it the thrill of synchronized drops, the ridiculous pleasure brought on by friendly fire (oops), or just uninhibited joy in yelling “FOR SUPER EARTH” into the void, the game’s sharing community is mad passionate. And with an additional call for arms from PlayStation, it looks like the real fight is just beginning.

So, if you’re not already sitting in your pod right now, then what are you waiting for? Super Earth needs you. Or, you could just keep scrolling. But why would there be any fun in that?
