Cory Barlog, the director of 2018’s God of War has become one of the most well-known game developers in the modern gaming world.
Of course, Barlog is most famous for his work on God of War, but he often expresses interests outside of the story of Kratos. This happened recently when he noted on Twitter that he would love to work on a remake for Silent Hill.
We haven’t heard anything regarding Silent hill for a long time. In fact, Konami, the publisher of this longtime franchise has denied persistent rumors that it is working on a reboot.
Barlog recently responded to a hypothetical question posed by GameSpot on Twitter, which stated, “You’ve discovered a magic lamp. The genie says only one of these can get a remaster. Which one do you pick?”
The games in question were Silent Hill, Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid, and Xenogears.
Barlog responded, “Silent Hill. And let me do it.”
Of course, if there was a Silent Hill remake on the horizon, it would be unlikely that Barlog would be free to head it up. Though unconfirmed at present time, Barlog is reportedly hard at work on the development of a sequel to 2018’s God of War, which many are calling God of War 5.
It has been heavily rumored that God of War 5 would be one of the first major exclusives announced for the PlayStation 5, which is due to hit stores this holiday season.
While neither Sony, Barlog, or developer Santa Monica Studios have confirmed anything regarding God of War 5, we know from recent tweets that Barlog has been hard at work writing while listening to the score from last year’s highly anticipated game Death Stranding, starring The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus.
Barlog was the lead animator on the original God of War and served as the director and story writer for God of War II. He was also the story writer for God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghosts of Sparta. He was the cinematics director for 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, so he is no stranger to rebooting popular franchises.
Silent Hill has not seen an official release since it was announced that Konami had cancelled a Silent Hill project that was being developed by legendary game director Hideo Kojima. However, Kojima has been teasing a major announcement that many believe could be related to Silent Hill in some way. So, while a Silent Hill remake is still possible, it is unlikely to be headed up by Cory Barlog.
