Mortal Kombat 11 is just a couple of days away from its official launch. Fans of the series are waiting in anticipation to experience the new combat system, characters, and of course, an epic story.
NetherRealm Studios has seemingly mastered the recipe for creating an amazing fighting game. They poured their hearts and souls into the game’s design, which is clearly evident in this latest installment.
They’ve even announced MK11 for the Nintendo Switch, which quite honestly, is surprising. Nintendo has always focused on putting out family-oriented titles, featuring zero blood and relatively minimal violence. Well, it doesn’t get any more bloody and violent than a Mortal Kombat game.
Still, it looks like Nintendo is looking to go after a more broader audience — which is a smart tactic on their part. Being able to play Mortal Kombat 11 on the Switch — particularly with the portable screen — seems very promising.
For those wondering what the game will look like on the Switch, some gameplay footage recently came out. Much to many Switch fans’ delight, the footage looks spectacular. We see the revenant Kung Lao in action. His character costume still looks detailed, as does the stage behind him.
This is a good sign for any gamers worried that the graphics wouldn’t be that great on the Switch’s portable screen. Sure, they probably won’t be as detailed as what is shown on an Xbox One or PS4, but that’s the compromise you get when playing on a portable device.
However, you aren’t sacrificing much. You have the ability to play the newest Mortal Kombat game — the full version — using a portable device. The possibilities are endless. You could be battling your friends locally while sitting on the toilet. Or, you could be at work taking down Shang Tsung online.
No matter where you go, you’ll be able to have epic Mortal Kombat experiences. It’s great to see Nintendo opening up and working with NetherRealm Studios. It could be the start of a beautiful relationship, where Nintendo fans have the chance to play some of the best fighting games around.
It’s going to be interesting to see how MK11 plays on the Switch. The portable screen has a much different layout than what you get with a console controller. Hopefully, NetherRealm Studios put a lot of thought into making the Switch version, so that gamers don’t have to compromise anything when playing in portable mode.
