The Witcher has become a Netflix Original Series, and it’s coming out on December 20th. The anticipation of the show has been high for Witcher fans since the series announcement in May of 2017.
Henry Cavill, the actor who has played Superman in many DC films, leads the show as Geralt of Rivia. He is a mercenary hunter, killing monsters for money. Geralt of Rivia is described as a mutant, who was created by magic and has been perfectly groomed to take down beasts.
The premise of the TV series follows Geralt of Rivia as he wanders The Continent. He is a recluse, finding it challenging to assimilate with people, as most he deems more wicked than the beasts he slaughters. However, as fate will have it, he is forced into a group with a powerful sorceress and a young princess.
The sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg, is played by Anya Chalotra, known for her role as Jennifer Ashman in the British TV series Wanderlust.
Freya Allan plays Princess Ciri. She is a relatively new actress, with her most notable role as Young Minerva in Into the Badlands.

Here is a quick history of The Witcher:
The Witcher series was first introduced to the public via a book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The series was kicked off during the ’80s as short stories and evolved into a novel series, with the last book being released in Poland in 2013.
The popular book franchise has seen itself recreated in many different ways, including as a movie, a television series, as graphic novels, and games.
The showrunner of the TV series, Lauren Hisrich, has announced that the plot will follow the books, not the video games.
The three video games released for the Witcher franchise are The Witcher (2007), The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (2011), and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015). The series has been developed and published by CD Projekt Red. Atari published the Windows version for the first game.
A free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena came out briefly in 2015 for mobile. It was called The Witcher Battle Arena and was published and developed by CD Projekt Red. The servers were shut down on December 31, 2015.
The Witcher has also become a board game named The Witcher Adventure Game. It has received a tabletop version and a digital video game version, created by CD Projekt Red and Fantasy Flight Games, and CD Projekt Red and Can Explode Games, respectively.
The TV series has been looked at by fans as a possible Game of Thrones-like blockbuster. Only time will tell if The Witcher will deliver up to fans’ expectations.
