Fortnite’s new Blitz trailer was the bomb, and gamers lost their minds over the return of Mega City and the insane collaborations that came with it. The hype was very much real, and the reactions could not be on opposite ends of the spectrum: some were crying out of joy, some wanted it to be a permanent mode, and others just came for some chaos.
Mega City is BACK, complete with neon skyscrapers, neon glare in the eyes of many of a cyberpunk vibe, and evidence of sweats roof camping. Giant, loud players @1234Testguy floods all caps: “MEGA CITY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Meanwhile, @anongir16821466 stands on the verge of crying tears of joy: “IM GUNNA CRY MEGA CITY?!.?/!/!:!” Yes, that kind of energy.
And now, about the place? No. Blitz mode is also causing a split of opinions. Players like @DeathcoreDylan plead with Epic to have it permanently: “Please make blitz permanent, it’s so fun!” And then others go on to complain about all the Fortnite cliches-campers, short matches, and the eternal fighting between zero build and OG build modes. @ItsMeTrout added some snarky wit: “i just love getting to the end of the match in the first 2 minutes then have a kid hiding in a building for 3 more.” Classic.
Then there are the collab speculations. The players are throwing wild guesses against the wall-Attack on Titan? Dragon Ball? Replies are a mixture of wishful thinking and sarcastic clapbacks. @NovaPrimer_ just straight-up demanded, “Just give me Dragon ball,” whilst @inicksmith and @roninX16 are deep into whether AOT skins will return with Mega City. The theorizing rarely stops.
Performance concerns popped up. @Jtglitchgamer dropped the real question: “The Lord’s Mega (that mini mega city) POI, will it drop ur gaming device’s FPS like the original one, jst not as much?” Because let’s be real, nobody wants to go down to 10 FPS just while trying to clutch a win.
Then Ranked vs. Casual wars started again. One half of the story was well told by @HarmeBombay: “this is so fun fuck ranked players this is what fortnite is about.” Meanwhile, sweats like @the_gay_bandit and @drippyg_ are busy roasting each other in the replies about skill issues. Would Fortnite Twitter ever be without toxicity?
More collabs were teased in the trailer, but Epic will keep the details under wraps. Leakers like @HYPEX have been dropping quite a few cryptic hints that will very well add fuel to the chaos. For some of the players, this is the big thing; for others, it’s just one more step toward a greater thing stuck on the enjoyment of seeing Mega City again.
So, what about the other stuff? More trailers? Surprise events? Another round of “will they/won’t they” build mode? Who in the world knows? But one thing is for sure: Fortnite is definitely good at keeping players talking, no matter if they’re salty or meme-hungry.
Those who haven’t seen the Blitz trailer yet-Well darlings, what are you waiting for? Mega City is calling, and so are many tryhards ready to get you off a skyscraper. Best of luck out there.
