Fortnite’s Blitz Royale mode reported more than enough madness, drumroll, and a little more ninja-turtle style. As of this most recent update, melee weapons now drop in the loot poll, thereby equipping players with an opportunity to really cut, dice, and crate havoc with some shell crushing force. And honestly? I am so glad they finally made it there.
The announcement trickled through the Fortnite official Twitter channel, and in true hype fashion, it read, “Time to get up close and personal, shell-heads!”, and shared a cool image of the TMNT weapons in action. Faced with this, the reactions were a mix of excitement and confusion, with the definitive Fortnite community clamouring for more collabs, more fixes, and anime skins of any pop culture variety.
But down to the nitty-gritty: so what’s different inside? The update brings the TMNT kind of melee weapons, presumably derived from the recent TMNT x Fortnite crossover starring Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. So now, rather than standing back and shooting foes down at a distance, gamers can now embrace their ninja side and just get down and dirty with a little Turtle Power in hybrid-fighter-style Mayhem atrocities.
Then, maybe, some players are really not happy about it. Some players, like @lemmonsays on Twitter, do state, “You can’t get up close. Too many guns in loot pool for melee mayhem,” and that is quite a solid argument. Blitz Royale is already a very fast pace-high-octane mode where guns rule. And then there are throwing swords and sais just one more weapon probably going to get blanked by someone with a shotgun way faster.
The matter of distraction being… When it comes to replies, requests, and complaints vie for one another’s attention. @FrogForFortnite persists in trying to get Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia into the game (Day 378, as recorded). @Owen23870320 wants the TMNT villains and Casey Jones back. Conversely, @JohnnyBasedman wants to know where the Punisher is. Classic stuff.
Then @Soulbound_TV drops the realest take: “If I don’t hear pizza power while swinging, I’m refunding.” Honestly? Same. If Fortnite’s gonna go full TMNT, they better commit to the bit.
Some less-than-positive comments follow. @ChrisHutcho4 said the swords were “annoying as hell,” and @linktheboss3 begged for fixes to SBMM in Blitz Royale. Then, kind of but not really joined by @Pangocciolo_, who declared Fortnite “so dead” and accused Epic of ignoring the community in favor of “useless collabs.” That’s harsh.
But hey, not everyone is salty. @MrJokerCPoC summed it up: “Blitz Royale is a ton of fun! 🍕” And honestly? That’s the vibe. Fast and frantic and now even more ridiculous with TMNT weapons in the mix. Whether this will shuffle the meta around all that much or just stay as a fun little gimmick to use occasionally has to be seen for now.
Just about what is coming—all the replies are filled with crazy guesses and demands for Attack on Titan collabs, among others, and calls for Mortal Kombat characters. Still, some continue to focus on that rotating minimap (Day 602, @k0ntroversial is still going strong).
One thing’s for sure: never a dull moment in Fortnite. Whether you love the chaos or think it’s too much, Blitz Royale’s recent update is yet another reminder that Epic will continue to throw random stuff against the wall to see what grips. And, well, if nothing else, at least we can now merc some people with ninja turtle weapons. That should mean something.
So grab your swords and jump into Blitz Royale, trying hard not to get blasted mid-swing. That’s Fortnite for you- expect the unexpected.
