Judgement Day is here. Hell is at the door, and Hell comes fast. Bethesda and id Software delivered the news that DOOM: The Dark Ages are going to launch right into Xbox Game Pass on May 15. No waiting, no extra bucks, just hellish melee for all subscribers. If you are even the kind that likes to hold on to their games for good, pre-orders are already live.
There was no wasted fluff in the announcement tweet-a mercifully brief and brutish affair that would make even a Doomguy melee fiendisher cringe. Simply a release date, confirmation for Game Pass, and a link directing you to throw your money at them. Classic. And that artwork? Gnarly medieval-looking DOOM-chainsaw sword, gothic ruins, and enough blood to fill a cathedral.
Strange thing, though-no replies there. Typically, a DOOM reveal would see fans screaming like Imps on fire, but this one has thus far has been radio silence. Perhaps the fans are too busy sharpening their virtual axes? Or maybe the damned tweet is too raw that the entire fan base just stood spellbound? Either way, it’s almost eerie not to have a single retort about it-the calm before, like, a Hell Knight stampede.
What we know for certain: The Dark Ages is going the fantasy route and grimdark because it has to-the last two games were sci-fi industrial hellscapes. Rumors began circling about a medieval twist, and now it is confirmed. Imagine Doomguy ripping apart demons with a flail rather than a shotgun, and there you are halfway there.
This is huge for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Day-one access means no $70 chipping away at your wallet-instant slaughter. For the rest, preorders are live, but nothing yet on special editions or bonuses. Not much more, considering. Being tight-lipped is somewhat uncharacteristic of Bethesda, so whatever the case may be, we should expect images, footage, and likely some lore-heavy video montage explaining why Doomguy is clad in a comic book now.
May 15 is definitely a bloodbath day. Mark this on your calendar, whether tearing through Hell on Game Pass or buying your copy. And maybe grab some holy water on the side. Just in case.
So yes. DOOM is back. With the Dark Ages following. No further questions-just rip and tear.
