Now that we’re a little under two months away from the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the developers have finally revealed when we’ll learn more about the game’s single-player campaign. Of course, as of this writing, the official details regarding the campaign have been scarce, but it looks like we’re going to get a closer look at it at the end of this month.
Over on the official Call of Duty Twitter account, the devs announced all of the pre-launch world premiere content, as well as when they’re going to release that content to the public. By now, everyone knows that there will be an open beta from September 12 through the 16, but the devs also revealed that they’ll be sharing the crossplay details during the week of September 18, a second beta trial from September 19 to September 23, the single-player campaign world premiere, which will be at the end of this month, and, lastly, details on the Spec Ops mode will be coming during the week of October 7.

So, it looks like there’s going to be no shortage of Call of Duty content in the coming weeks. Of course, it might be realistic to expect one more trailer that premieres during launch week, but that wasn’t officially announced in the tweet.
Some are expecting the single-player campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to be gritty and extremely controversial, but that remains to be seen. The developers have shared some details regarding the campaign in the game, most of which have been geared around the game’s first mission. But, it has been revealed that at some point during the single-player campaign, you’ll be playing as a child soldier. Of course, that won’t bother some people, but for the people who do have a problem with it, the devs have assured them that it’ll be done tastefully.
Featuring child soldiers in a game is nothing new, as it’s been done several times, most recently in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. However, in that game, if you decided to use lethal force against a child soldier as opposed to just putting them to sleep with a tranquilizer bullet, you’d automatically fail the mission. So, it’ll be interesting to see if Infinity Ward implements something like that into their campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently scheduled to be released on October 25, and it will be available on all consoles and PC.
