One of the most anticipated releases of 2020 just got a little sweeter when Final Fantasy VII Remake announced via the game’s official Twitter account that it has entered into a partnership with Butterfinger that will provide gamers with some additional DLC content.

“Get ready to take snacking and gaming to the next level with Butterfinger and Final Fantasy VII Remake,” the tweet reads. “Visit ButterfingerFF7R.com to learn more about how you can game better with Butterfinger.”

When you visit the website discussed in the tweet, you’re given very little information. The site simply has a graphic showing Cloud Strife along with a Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, and Crunch bar.

It also says, “The Butterfinger Final Fantasy VII Remake Offer Will Begin at 12 p.m. ET on March 3, 2020.”

The graphic has an intriguingly vague set of instructions, inviting customers to “Unlock Your DLC.” Below that it simply says “Buy, Snap, Score.”

While there are no actual details given regarding the DLC in question, the offer details at the bottom of the page give us a little more insight into what’s going on.

From the legal disclaimer, we can see that the offer starts on March 3 and will continue until May 14, more than a month after the game’s official release on the PlayStation 4.

To receive this mystery DLC, you’ll have to buy two participating products in the same transaction and take a photo of your receipt. You can then upload the receipt photo to receive your DLC.

Participants must be 13 or over to enter and this is only available to U.S. residents. The offer is not redeemable until the game releases on April 10, 2020.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a full HD remake of the original 1997 release of Final Fantasy VII. However, the new game seeks to expand upon the original story, creating a full franchise out of Final Fantasy VII.

The game will be released in several chapters, each the length of a full game, according to Square Enix. This will only be the first chapter in what is sure to be an ongoing successful venture, recreating arguably the most popular Final Fantasy game in the history of the franchise.

While many of the game’s original settings and characters remain unchanged, we’ve seen a lot of interesting changes, including new characters, side missions, and story elements that were not present in the original.

It is interesting to note that this Butterfinger promotion is launching on March 3, the original release date for the game before it was pushed back into April.
