Bungie announced a new Destiny 2 event with which players have… well, they have thoughts. The update invites the guardians to finish the three Rite of the Nine dungeons and then meet the Emissary east of the spire. Sound great? The community response is anything but courteous.
Let’s start with the rewards. Or should we say reward? Players who endured some torture in all three dungeons were rewarded with… a single Nonary Manifold. Yep. One manifold. And a blue drop. Imagine a collective “bruh” from the Destiny 2 community.
Meanwhile, players flocked to Twitter to share their pain. User @Esseaghost stated with brevity, “I did! For ONE manifold……,” to which @TheGamingCynics replied, “Yeah, one doesn’t cut it.” Some users, like @theJthatmatters, wanted something cooler to finish out the season, but instead, it was just a solitary resource and a disabled engram to exist past 20. Ouch.
Next: the dungeon experience itself. @IchigoxrukiaF had strong words for those enemies that simply blew themselves up: “The person who came up with these can go straight to God damn hell take your family with you.” Harsh, but honestly? Relatable.
Then they revealed bugs, such as chests not opening (@Ryandenefrio) or the Thunderlord failing (@LHowling1980). And the classic Destiny 2 “no meaningful cover” in encounters, as @pitofsuccess said: “They design encounters to have no cover, so yeah. What they really want is you dead all the time.”
Anyway, not everyone was angry at the event. The visuals were appreciated by @azrokaiyax, who tweeted, “Damn. 🖼️ 👀 That’s an amazing shot. 📸 🥹” So, at least the look and feel are decent.
Then there was @Timothy_Mark7 who simply wants a “handheld tank cannon” for an exotic heavy. Bungie, make it happen.
So, the verdict: the Emissary event is in progress, free for all players, even… underwhelming to some. But hey, that’s Destiny 2, isn’t it? Sometimes you get that sick loot drop. Sometimes you get a single Nonary Manifold and a meme-worthy Twitter rant.
At least Starhorse is somewhere waiting, keen to lay down some chaos. Maybe next time, Bungie.
