The light-hearted, 33-year-old platforming game Bubble Bobble returned with its fourth installment in the franchise. The game is launching early next year, but some additional details of this fan-favorite have been revealed. The game will be launching digitally, but for those physical copy collectors, there will be a version that fits your need.
The game will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive and changes up the original Bubble Bobble formula. Instead of being a solo experience like previous installments, the game is now bringing a four-player experience to the frontline of their fourth game.
Cooperative play in puzzle-platform stages awaits players who venture into the family-friendly Bubble Bobble. To make this even more exciting, it will be the first game in the franchise to support a four-player multiplayer as well as being the first internally developed title since the developers return to the consumer market.
The game is launching 100 brand new levels as well as a further 100 levels from the original Bubble Bobble. The game originally came out as a coin-operated arcade machine in 1986, and since then, it has come a long way.
The physical versions of this game will come with the standard manual and promotional content, but the Collector’s Edition has some extra treats. If you purchase the Collector’s Edition, you will find an exclusive cover with individual numbering and a high-quality collectors box with magnetic closure.
Inside the box is a copy of the original soundtrack from TAITO’s legendary “House Band” Zuntata and a hardcover book with some insight into Bubble Bobble. There are two sheets of the stylish marquee and artwork stickers, along with an instruction card and an exclusive Arcade Flyer.
You can pre-order both editions exclusively from Strictly Limited Games online store starting on October 27. The Limited Standard Edition will have an exclusive cover and individual number similar to the Collector’s Edition, but purchasing this will result in fewer goodies. The Standard Edition can be purchased for $39.99 and the Collector’s Edition for $89.99.
The game is set to launch in Europe on November 19. The North American launch is expected sometime early in 2020. Again, this game will be a Nintendo Switch Exclusive continuing the family-friendly concept that fans hold to Nintendo products.
