Borderlands 3 was thankfully confirmed last week. Fans of the series have been waiting for years in anticipation for the trilogy in this beloved series. We were even treated to a potential release date: September 13, 2019.
That’s right. You only have to wait a couple of more months to experience this amazing loot-and-shoot action game. From what we’ve seen in some teaser trailers, Borderlands 3 seems to be the biggest and baddest it has ever been. The environments that you’ll be able to explore look spectacular. There are creepy swamps, massive deserts, and impressive cities featuring neon lights that draw you in.
Although the environments look great, co-op play has always been a shining aspect of the Borderlands games. Taking down bosses and leveling up your character with another friend never gets old. You create a bond in the game that is hard to do with a lot of games today.
And now, there are rumors that Borderlands 3 could feature cross-play. This means you could be playing the game on a PlayStation 4 and still be connected to a co-op session, even when your friend is playing on a different console.
Imagine the co-op opportunities this new feature will bring to life. You would be able to play with more players and experience Borderlands like never before. There isn’t any official report of cross-play being added, but it is currently being discussed by 2K Games.
They didn’t go into a lot of details, but they did mention the option of cross-play with the upcoming Borderlands 3 is being heavily considered. This is amazing news.
If there’s any series that deserves this feature, it’s Borderlands. You’re rewarded when playing with others, especially when taking on bosses with absurd health bars. Cross-play would break down the console barriers, letting you play with whoever you want on any console system.
We’ve seen cross-play already have a bunch of success with battle royale games, including Fortnite. It has enabled gamers to come together and not argue about which console is better. All that matters is the fun that games provide.
At the end of the day, cross-play for Borderlands 3 would be a win for all console makers. We may not have any conclusive reports confirming cross-play, but it’s certainly worth getting excited about.
Borderlands 3 is pegged to be one of the best games of the year. It has been talked about for years, and hopefully, it lives up to the hype.
