Blizzard keeps plenty of events flowing through the pipeline for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, often creating overlap and empowering events even more. For example, yesterday we discussed the Super Squirt event, which combines two events to make Battle Pets easier to power level.
With the Winds of Wisdom buff still active, which doubles all experience gains for players, Blizzard is also bringing in a marathon of Timewalking dungeons. The combination of both will provide a fantastic source of experience and reputation.
If you’re new to the title or simply unfamiliar, Timewalking dungeons are a way for Blizzard to keep past expansion content relevant. When a Timewalking event is active, a specific expansion is picked for dungeons to scale players down to, working to grab some gear that adjusts to their actual level.
Additionally, they provide extra experience, combining with the Winds of Wisdom buff that Blizzard extended to provide extremely swift leveling. Moreover, Blizzard is also implementing a 50% experience buff for the Timewalking event.
There will be five consecutive weeks of Timewalking dungeons rather than only lasting a week as they usually do before cycling to another event, such as Battlegrounds or Pet Battles. Each week will feature a different expansion.
The following schedule for the Timewalking event has been given:
- June 23-30: The Burning Crusade
- June 30-July 7: Wrath of the Lich King
- July 7-14: Cataclysm
- July 14-21: Mists of Pandaria
- July 21-28: Warlords of Draenor
The event brings players to the second-to-most recent expansion, with Legion being left out of the Timewalking experience. Given that going through the content of the most recent expansion would barely be a step back in time at all, it’s sensible to have left it out.
Each week will be moving up chronologically through the first to fifth expansion. Vanilla content hasn’t been included, presumably because it’s still highly active, especially when one considers the existence of World of Warcraft: Classic.
Additionally, the 50% reputation bonus that Blizzard is applying will be active for all future Timewalking events. Continuing this buff indefinitely will make Timewalking events a fantastic time to grind out the reputation for one of your favorite outdated factions.
Doing so can give some wonderful and unique transmogrification options from the faction vendors of those groups. Additionally, there are plenty of exclusive mounts that are only obtainable from these older factions.
While the event will only be running for five weeks, Blizzard’s decision to make the reputation buff continue on means that Timewalking events will forever be just a bit more useful.
