Koei Tecmo Games’ Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout launched on October 28 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. So far, the game has been positively received among fans.
Koei Tecmo rolled out a new update on November 19 for various bug fixes plus three new pieces of content.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is the newest title in the Atelier world starring newcomer Ryza. Young Ryza is tired of her dull life in the village and ventures out with her friends. They decide to explore a forbidden island, which leads them to an unforgettable Summer adventure.
The full patch notes are available on the Koei Tecmo website but include:
- Fixing various bugs triggered in battles and quests
- Adding the Advanced Exploration Patch
- Support for upcoming content soon to be announced
- Fixing UI issues
Along with the patches that come with any update, there were pieces of content to amplify players’ experience.
“Photo Mode” allows players to take fun photos with their characters and friends. The images are fully customizable, from choosing a location, character, time, frame, filters, and more. The characters in photo mode can only be chosen depending on who is in Ryza’s party at the time. The biggest drawback is that screenshots are not available in the Photo Mode. Players will have to use their PS4, Nintendo Switch, or PC screenshot function to save their pictures.
“Weasel Roast” is a mini-game where gamers can earn prizes if they score big. Players have to create combos to get high damage and scores to receive bonus gems. This game is only unlocked once Empel joins Ryza’s party.
“Puni Companion” is a passive mini-game. Ryza can feed a puni to increase it’s status meters and change its appearance. As the puni grows, it will venture off and return with gifts for Ryza.
Along with the three new side games and Photo Mode were two expansion updates.
“Advanced Exploration” lets Ryza and her friends take leveling to a new level. Characters can strengthen skills, increase their levels, and expand their weapon strengthening.
“Highest Difficulty” is precisely what it sounds like: a new difficulty level. “Legend” mode allows Ryza and her friends to reach level 99.
An additional update will also arrive this month. The official website states it “raises level caps for gathering location synthesis” for level 100 to 200 worlds.
Koei Tecmo plans on releasing new free and paid content for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout in the upcoming weeks.
