Oh, they went well beyond the call of duty. Players are going the whole mile recounting lengthy paragraphs of how these fictitious assassins shaped their very being, gave them confidence, and even laid down life principles for them. Truly insane.
He who left his mark by throwing down the vibes and badassery is in literal GOAT contention for many. One tried to be more candid among his peers and stated, “Ezio made me confident enough to flirt with women.” What?? That one just hates him, “The Eagle from Firenze” and that was it. I suppose it really needs no explanation now. And then, the ever-classic: “Ezio by light years.” Short and sweet, and so very true.
But the good ole Kassandra has some real-reaching fans. Another search for Odyssey means a search for “even if you’re not an assassin, you can still fight for the same ideals as the Creed.” Deep. They want Ubisoft to bring her back for Shadows as well, which… (sigh)…oh, yes, please. However, a little drama ensued in the replies over whether Alexios was truly the better protagonist. That debate will probably never die.
BayekFan enters denying… I mean-,”My KINGGGGGGGGG,” some player shouted in complete caps. I can’t hold enough displeasure against him-the tale of Bayek in Origins was the best kind of tearjerker. Some more love poured for Evie as the “thought process and personality” of quite a few players. Big-ups to the Frye twins in general-Jacob and Evie both received multiple mentions as immediate favorites.
In this messy scenario, some players are up for defending “their” creed by going all salty over the fact that the later titles don’t feel like the real Assassin’s Creed. One reply angrily declared, “After Revelations nothing is cannon anyway.” Ouch. Another one outright claimed that Unity was the real evolution of the classic formula. Then, out of nowhere, comes a demand for an AC movie remake. Right.
Yet the personal stories do hit home. One player revealed that Evie Frye was their “Trans Awakening,” while Edward Kenway reminded them of themselves. Another shared how Haytham and Connor Kenway showed them “what the world is like in reality.” Deep for a series about stabbing people in the neck.
We will definitely not forget about the random interjection of Flynn Rider confusion, though, because apparently for a hot second somebody thought Ezio was the Disney prince. Brain glitches happen.
The bottom line? Sheer passion for these characters pales in comparison to game pixels. For charm spilled, for Kassandra’s strength, for Bayek’s sorrow, and for Evie’s wit; everyone has that one Assassin who towers in their memory after the credits roll. Even if some Redditers believe the franchise hit its peak about a decade ago, the passion flows strong.
If I’m to be excused now, I need to go replay the Ezio Trilogy for the 50th time! Obviously, for research.
