Season 5 of Apex Legends is called Fortune’s Favor and it arrives on May 12th, 2020. This launch trailer gives fans a look at Loba’s abilities, including when she steals an R301 straight off a rack and teleports around the fight. It’s also the first time there’s been an interaction between Loba and Revenant.

Loba’s ability skillset has been leaked for a few weeks now and it’s clear she has some sort of melee item (her staff keeps making an appearance), she can steal loot from right under your fingertips and has a teleport ability. Where these abilities fall under tactical, passive and ultimate is yet to be seen.

“Come to kill me little girl?” asks Revenant, before Loba tries to shoot him with an inevitable hit of an 11 damage P2020. This suggests there are going to be unique interactions in the game between the two rival characters.

Like other trailers in the past, this one is more about the characters of Apex Legends rather than any concrete details about the Season 5 patch notes, changes and new gameplay additions.

However, from a closer look at the trailer, some of the map changes are quite obvious. The characters are dotted around the bones of King’s Canyon’s Skull Town at the end, and it looks like some of the bones have disappeared. This could be a significant change to an area which is dominated by the high-ground advantage.

In terms of the new weapon, there are still no clear details on this. Some think the pilot submachine gun, the Volt SMG, will arrive from the Titanfall universe. Potentially an energy-based SMG to rival the R-99 and Prowler.

As the week progresses and the hype builds for Season 5, fans will be eagerly awaiting the release of the patch notes. It should be noted that these usually go live a day before the release of the trailer, which is on the 12th of May.

In the build-up to Season 5, players can also enjoy the Battle Armor event currently taking place in Apex Legends, with Purple Armor up next, followed by Evo shields.
