Deck-builders often find a home on the table-top world quite naturally, but when one ambitiously brings those styles of mechanics into a digital landscape, it will always draw some attention. This game seems to be striving for an RPG style game but revolves the entire premise around building a deck of cards. Dungeon Drafters certainly keeps true to its name by keeping these cards at the forefront of the entire game experience.

The story puts you in the place of an adventurer. You are eager to begin your journey and uncover more ancient and long-forgotten cards. This is all in an effort to build the ultimate deck that is powerful enough to defeat the best card wielder in the world, the one that everyone in the kingdom fears. Players will find themselves on a journey through dungeons and battle where you will make new friends and enemies at every turn.

The game uses a tile-style map for combat that lets you see where card effects will trigger. Dungeon Drafters is a rogue-lite style game, so make sure to expect some death along the way while learning. Cards are used to defeat enemies, buff allies, and summon massive effects for the battlefield.

The game revolves around dungeons, as this is where you will find even more cards for your deck. From dark and dreary caverns to ancient libraries, you will dig deeper and deeper for better loot. The longer you stay, the more dangerous the dungeon gets, but the better the spoils that await you.

At any point, you can turn around and return to the town where tons of NPCs await you. These NPCs will provide you aid in your journey, but it will take some time and investment to unlock them. Buying and selling cards is available with these NPCs, and some might have the rare you’re looking for.

As of right now, the game is fully funded but still have time left on the campaign for some of those stretch goals and early investors. The developers have made it clear that all money going into the campaign will be used to hire more staff for perfecting the game prior to release.
