Justin Roiland’s game Trover Saves the Universe has made big headlines among the Rick and Morty community for its outrageous concept and wacky worlds. It is one of two releases from Squanch Games, both set in the same universe, or at least the same dimensional space.

The core game lets you travel the universe to save your dogs from a beaked monster. You have to fight across insane levels and meet crazy aliens as you battle for your pet. To make it even stranger, the only reason the beaked monster wants your dog is to put it in its eyeholes. This is an eyehole universe for you to experience with your own eyeholes.

A new DLC is being released for the game called Important Cosmic Jobs. To make it even more exciting, it is free and will allow you to explore the workplace of the game’s hero. This new adventure lets you meet his colleagues and deal with his insane boss. At least your boss does not want to put your pet in his eye holes, or does he?

You will get to collect more power babies and even watch original sketches. The best part is that it has a copy of Space Slam, including allowing you to experience Trover’s favorite game. You do have to own a copy of the base game for the DLC, but other then that initial investment, the entire experience is free.

The DLC is a more laid back style of game. You get to experience a non-combat oriented side of the game. The main feature you will find is a good look at how miserable Trover’s life really is. This entire package lets you have a closer look at his life outside the adventure, even allowing you to explore the main mission control area used during the campaign.

The experience includes the expected absurd dialogue and vocal performances from Roiland and his crew. It mainly is built upon self-deprecating meta-commentary with many references to the developers themselves.

This is the first DLC for the game, and many fans are already hoping for more. Roiland jokes about the entire marketing campaign for this DLC being based on granola freebies at the store, but he may be on to something. Fans are clamoring to get their hands on this expansion, if for no other reason, then to experience more of Roiland’s humor.

The DLC is free on all platforms, so expect it to be an early download. Reminder, you do need the core game to experience this new, sorta, adventure.
