Despite Cyberpunk 2077 having a less than stellar launch, the modding community has really started coming on strong as of late. We’ve already been treated to a third-person mod that lets plays finally see their character customizations in grand fashion. It can be a bit buggy, but it has a ton of potential nevertheless.
Modders have kept at it and now, you can fly around Night City like Superman. The FreeFly mod is currently available at Nexusmods for those interested in soaring across the expansive environments like never before.
Once this mod is activated, you can fly in any direction. You can also adjust your character’s speed when they’re up in the air, depending on how fast you want to go. Lastly, the FreeFly mod can be activated in cars as well — although you’ll switch to a first-person perspective.
All in all, it’s a pretty fun mod that Cyberpunk 2077 players have enjoyed thoroughly thus far. It makes this sci-fi RPG play completely different and certainly comes in handy if you want to get to certain locations quickly and in dramatic fashion.
The flying mechanism in itself isn’t the smoothest gameplay experience. That’s not surprising considering the mod is relatively new and as time goes on, you can bet the creator will continue giving it some polish.
Probably the coolest aspect about it is seeing Night City from up above. You can really take everything in, whether you’re above the busy district of Westbrook or soaring above the seemingly endless Badlands.
Despite Cyberpunk 2077 launching with a ton of bugs — especially for those with older consoles — Night City is an incredible work of art that begs to be explored and appreciated. CD Projekt Red can hang their hat on that aspect at least, while they try to improve the game’s mechanics heading into the new year.
Seeing everything like Superman definitely lets you appreciate all of the details in a novel fashion, so for that fact alone, the FreeFly mod is worth utilizing if you’ve stuck around Cyberpunk 2077.
And for the modding community, they should keep up these efforts. There are still a ton of great mods left to be discovered. As the developer continues making improvements, at least players can look forward to new mod drops on a consistent basis.
There are a ton of passionate fans that have fortunately given Cyberpunk 2077 a lot of great mod gems already. Hopefully, their efforts don’t slow any time soon.
