Even though World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has not been the nicest to the alt-aholics, there are still tricks players can do to make for lost time. And for some of us, perhaps the latest patch is not your end goal but a new Shadowlands main character instead. Maybe you want to try the opposing faction, a different class, or even just to see a familiar spec in a new race, the Visions of N’Zoth patch is the most optimal time for you to spoil your cravings.

Wowhead is the number World of Warcraft tool and information website, besides the official Blizzard website, of course. In fact, the developer’s Game Masters often quote and refer players to the website mentioned above. The published guide for Shadowlands alt prepping discusses the highs and the lows of BfA‘s last patch.

The biggest alt obstacle is, of course, gearing, starting with the legendary cloak questline, which is extremely long and tedious for doing it over several toons. The Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve, is essential for the rest of your gearing adventures and brings your iLvl upward. Luckily, there are steps players can either skip or have a shortcut route. These include the Uldum and Pandaria Assaults, the Mogu’ shan Palace quest, and even your first Horrific Vision.

Wowhead lists World Quests and Emissaries at the top for increasing your iLevel. These two options are by far the easiest to complete compared to dungeons and raids. On the next tier is through PvP Incursions and Conquest caps.

Each week you earn 500 Conquest, you can earn a piece of 445+ gear in your weekly chest. This doesn’t scale down to your current iLevel the way regular World Quests and Emissaries do, so you can earn 445+ gear no matter your current character’s iLevel.

The guide lists 8.2’s Benthic Gear and the new Black Empire Gear as a “Debatable” source of gears. This section also includes the latest storm to hit Azeroth, Corrupted Gears. Though they provide a spike in your character’s power level, the rng involved is too massive. “This [Corrupted Gear] is an ability with a good side and a bad side: while it can confer a unique power to the wearer on the item, it also has a bad side effect. Some work better for some classes than others,” the guide reads.

Since Wowhead is discussing gearing up for the next expansion, the guide suggests not to worry about your Azerite traits and Essences.
