The EA headquarters in Bucharest, Romania had around twenty protesters outside on November 28th.

They are all FIFA 20 players, and they have taken up a few issues with the game.

Here is some footage of the protest:

The protestors were complaining about a couple main problems with FIFA 20. Many players in the FIFA community have expressed annoyance about specific actions lagging when a gamer presses a button, as well as scripting of games.

The biggest issue these protestors and many FIFA 20 players around the world have is the balance of the in-game packs. Gamers can get these packs to unlock popular soccer players.

A great feature of FIFA 20 is the Ultimate Team mode, where players can assemble their dream squad. The way to get the best players like Messi and Rio Ferdinand is to unlock them via packs.

Players can get these packs by earning in-game currency or by purchasing them using real money. However, these protestors feel like the chances of getting a legendary player is extremely low. This forces gamers that want to build an Ultimate Team to buy packs with real money; the more packs, the higher the chance of getting a rare player.

The Romanian protestors believe that EA has purposely made it next to impossible to get these amazing players. They claim that EA is manipulating gamers into continually buying packs.

This protest took life on the official Reddit page for FIFA. The post is currently sitting at 3.6 K upvotes.

A user named Mehighmolly made the post, and it says, “People protesting right now in front of EA HQ in Bucharest complaining about pack luck in weekend league rewards, button delay and the script.”

There are a couple of hundred comments on the post made by FIFA players around the globe, with a mix of support and disapproval. One user says, “Complaining about luck…?” and another proclaims, “I wish I could join them, it’s so frustrating having no one to complain to besides the community.” The community is decently split on the protest, but most agree that there are these issues with the game.

It will be interesting to see if EA responds to the protests, or if they pretend that they didn’t even happen. From a business standpoint, and to keep the prestige of obtaining a legendary player, it makes sense that EA would want to tilt the odds. However, by the reaction online and on the Bucharest streets, EA may have made it a little too difficult for players to assemble their dream team.
