After waiting for over a year, Naughty Dog has revealed a ton of details about The Last of Us Part II, which will come to the PlayStation 4 on February 21. Of course, the February release date announcement wasn’t surprising, as the game’s release month was leaked anonymously several weeks before it was officially announced during this past week’s State of Play.

Even though the game won’t feature a multiplayer mode upon release, it’s still going to be a massive game, with, of course, the single-player experience being at the heart of it. But, how big will the game be? Well, according to The Last of Us Part II’s co-writer, Halley Gross, the game will be about 50 percent bigger than 2013’s The Last of Us.

During a recent interview with Gamer Braves, The Last of Us Part II’s co-writer explained why the sequel is much larger than its predecessor.

“The game I think we’re saying is about 50 per cent bigger,” said Gross regarding The Last of Us Part II. “But it is massive. Not just in length, but like, all of our levels are bigger and wider, we have more cinematics, we have more characters, we have more animations, we have larger melee systems. In every way, this game is bigger and better.”

The first game, which was released back in 2013, was between 15 and 20 hours long. So, if the game is 50 percent bigger, then The Last of Us Part II will likely take between 25 and 30 hours to complete.

Neil Druckmann, who is also the co-writer of The Last of Us Part II, recently spoke with IGN, where he said that every cinematic scene and gameplay clip that has been shown since its reveal during 2016’s PlayStation Experience event has been carefully crafted, as Naughty Dog doesn’t want to give too much away before the game is released.

We’re about five months away from the game’s release date, so we might see one more trailer before the game is released in February of next year. But, like with the trailers that have already been released, it probably won’t reveal much about the plot.

Earlier in the week, Naughty Dog confirmed that The Last of Us Part II will release without the popular Factions multiplayer mode, but they did mention that they are developing an online-based mode for the highly anticipated sequel, but it won’t be released as a part of the core game. So, if we do see something new about TLOU 2 in the coming months, then it could be regarding the multiplayer, which will probably come out at some point in late-2020.
