Recently, a rumor started going around which suggested that Infinity Ward’s upcoming Call of Duty game, called Modern Warfare, will have Battle Royale mode. Of course, while it’s still just a rumor, it’s not crazy to assume that the next installment of CoD will feature something similar to the Blackout mode in Black Ops 4.
According to the Gaming Revolution, the Battle Royale rumor surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is completely legit, as they received information on the mode via a Reddit user named WW2er.
The leak suggests that Raven Software started developing a Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare roughly three months ago, and as of this writing, they’re still developing it, and as you would expect, Infinity Ward is overseeing the project.
Apparently, the Battle Royale mode in the new CoD title won’t be limited to one map, as it’ll be playable on MW’s Spec Ops maps, and it’ll also feature multiplayer maps from previous Modern Warfare titles.
Also according to the leak, the Battle Royale map will be gigantic and will feature towering mountains and giant cities. On top of that, it’ll be on a much larger scale than the map used in Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode.
Lastly, the rumored Battle Royale mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature rewards for killstreaks. As of right now though, there’s no further information on what those rewards will be.
Infinity Ward recently confirmed that they will reveal what Modern Warfare’s multiplayer modes will look like on August 1, so it won’t be too long before players will be able to see how the upcoming Call of Duty title is different from the other installments in the franchise.
Unlike in last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which wasn’t developed by Infinity Ward, the Modern Warfare relaunch will have a single-player campaign mode. While the developer hasn’t provided a ton of details on what the game’s main storyline will entail, there is a feeling that this will be the most controversial, and the most realistic entry in the CoD franchise.
The developers have said that the game’s single-player campaign will be a lot more open than it has been in the past, as it will give players multiple ways to approach and carry out missions. However, much like in other CoD titles, your actions won’t have an impact on how the storyline unfolds, as the game does feature a linear story with pre-rendered cutscenes.
