The Forza Horizon account’s enigmatic message gave the players the option to choose between ”Grip: The art of control” and ”Drift: The art of chaos.” This was interpreted as the sign of Forza’s future, and that too very quickly. Just a straightforward question was enough to ignite the community which resulted in a huge number of replies that completely overshadowed the intended debate and instead turned into demands, rumors, and frustrations about the series. The engagement in this matter highlights the very high player expectation that is associated with the next installation, Forza Horizon 6, and the related issues with the currently available games.
So the Forza Horizon account just threw this vibe check to every player, didn’t it? Grip or Drift. Control or Chaos. Which one are you? It seems like a poll with no serious implications that merely keeps the discussion going around the different driving styles. But, oh my God, the replies did not at all follow the script. Not even a little bit. It was just like if someone asked the question, whether they would like a cake or a pie, and their answer started to be turned into a loud discussion about flour prices and opening new bakery locations. The community immediately took this question as a springboard to express all their thoughts.
For starters, a few players showed up to the fight. The very first one was the user ‘aka_kerad’ who, without much ground, responded with “Grip is for retired grandpas, lemme drift.” That was blunt. Totally blunt. But at the same time, another user ‘rainiernqc’ very nearly managed to keep the peace and said “I’m more of a grip build. But I love drift too.” Good job! This is exactly the kind of vibe we need. But this was like a small oasis of peace amid the vast ocean of pure, unrestrained gamer chaos.
Almost at the same time, the chat went to a direction no one had anticipated – it was all about Forza Horizon 6. User ‘BeFreeB3nY’ kicked off the ultimate console war: “Im… FH6 day one on PS5๐”. Dude. Forza. Xbox exclusive. This is just stirring the pot for fun and I do respect it. Then ‘betteridea141’ began to demand: “If you make a Jungle Track for Forza 6,I’ll buy the MAX Priced Edition”. You see, this is how it begins! The devs ask about driving technique and players are already making feature lists and pre-ordering hypothetical ultimate editions.
And then came the… very particular requests. ‘PrzemsonO’ is very sure and wants only one car: “Please add sedan Lexus LS400 1994-2000 Forza Horizon 6 pls ๐”. Not a whole car pack. Not the manufacturer’s selection of cars. Just one specific model year range of a sedan. Now, that is dedication! ‘GenShakewell’ wants the Chryslus Rocket 69 from Fallout, which, that’s actually, would be super cool. But it also shows how players utilize these moments to take their shots.
And yes, the chaos was not all that bright and optimistic. A big part of the replies just laid bare their pure, unadulterated annoyance with the current issues. ‘Dama5hii’ was extremely hostile: “Stop del delisting every previous game!!”. This is one of the big issues that the community is very unhappy about – older Forza games being removed from digital stores because of licensing rights. ‘LacunaAssassin’ bemoaned the price: “Neither because Gamepass is $30 a month when it should be $15 a month max”. And ‘Infamouscoma886’ just tore into past DLC: “Fuck the hotwheels dlc worst dogshit dlc ever made”. Someone had to be the defender and ‘LouisStomboli’ actually took the risk! The drama!
What could be weirder than the one that started with ‘UnderTheGuac’ who tagged an account called ‘grok’ and said “Hey @grok put the cars in bikinis”. What do you mean by that?? Is this a joke? Is grok an AI? Another user? ‘Grok’ allegedly said no, and ‘UnderTheGuac’ replied “Make an exception ๐ฅบ just for me๐ฅบ”. Then a third person, ‘Hooni76909604’, got into that exchange just with “What the fuck.” Honestly, I feel the same way.
Amid all this, a few replies popped up as possible teases. ‘mjgvibes’ posted a gif with the text “Hmmmm can’t wait for Jan 22nd๐”. Another user, ‘KevSimmer’ responded that with “May 19th”. Are these dates? Speculation? Inside knowledge about the next car racing game?
