Epic Games has some incredible news for Fortnite lovers who can’t do without Blitz Royale’s rapid-fire action. In a recent declaration that got the whole community buzzing, the makers have confessed that apart from keeping Blitz Royale for a considerable period, there will be a good number of new updates starting with the most disputed changes of medallions and boons.
Blitz Royale is being treated like a king of a kid’s dark dream. It is the hype of Fortnite, including, a smaller map, faster circles, and complete mayhem during the landing—a smaller map, quick circles, and total mayhem from one to the other side of the map. But the latest update has split the audience very strongly as one of them—the medallions and boons— intermediately has been removed thus making it more like standard Battle Royale.
The firm statement from Epic was really straight to the point: “we run through the routine tests with Blitz and the removal of the medallions and boons is one of the decisions in this situation. Tomorrow we will have more information, so be sure to check it out.” The part about “more information” has caused all to guess what will be the next, however, the elimination of those items has already stirred up a storm in the community.
And, players’ reactions have been nothing short of varied. Some express their total displeasure about the changes. The user AstrTJP was quite explicit with his opinion, saying, “Honestly blitz was ruined when you removed medalions and boons.” The same opinion was shared by other users as well, who claimed that the medallions and boons were just what made the mode distinctive in the first place.
However, there are users like Toma™ who talk about the matter in an amusing way, “Isn’t the entire point of Blitz that everything is overpowered lol?” That’s a puzzling question! Perhaps the devs are trying to clean up the mess? But actually, has Fortnite ever been about balance? It has always been about total chaos and fun.
The user community has put forward a lot of ideas as well. One user, DvS|itzznexorggs, came up with a rather insane suggestion: “What if Blitz Royale – Ranked Mode 👀” Now that would be quite an adventure, trying to rise in the ranks at the same time as everything is going on at “triple speed”. I get the shivers just thinking of it; my hands are already sweaty.
On the contrary, others have already begun waiting to see what might be the next thing. The rumor mill is in full motion, with collaboration being one of the most buzzed-about subjects while many users keep on demanding Attack on Titan items. User cruuzy_wuuzy has also been wishing for “attack on titan items hopefully🥹” and Dark Marvel92 was even more direct: “I hope it’s attack on Titan.” Considering Fortnite’s history of crazy crossovers, this does not sound far-fetched at all.
The performance issue has been also brought up for discussion with Simon Laskey stating, “blitz is awful on ps4 pre and shortly post landing.” Well, it is a fact that faster games do not work smoothly on older machines. However, Justin Garcia hit back with the old “Get a ps5 than” comeback that we have all been through in gaming wars.
The whole episode, reminds me of how Fortnite never fails to amaze its players. Just when you think you have gotten to know a mode, they change it all over again. A section of gamers absolutely dislike the change while others are eager to know what is coming next. User RΞXX who is not a fan of conventional BR states, “I like the fast pace gameplay the map size and it’s great for us with terrible work schedules!”
It is yet spectacular the way the community is divided over this issue. There are gamers like BrickmeisterUSA who lament “Removing medallions and booms is NOT cooking 😭” at the same time, others are just content that the mode is getting any care at all. Goldeneye9298 was almost overjoyed, just saying “Cook 🧑🍳 away!! @Fortnite”
Then, there are those who are just… baffled by it all. User Razor_Thundered posed the question which many people would probably have in their mind: “Aren’t medallions and boons the whole point of the mode?” Quite right, those objects were virtually the heart of what defined and distinguished Blitz.
The whole timeline of events is indeed interesting as it coincides with the onset of general questioning about the other modes, like Festival. User SheepTheSecond rather blatantly asked, “Okay but what about festival.” Everyone seems to be trying to figure out where Epic is directing its development resources today.
The truth is, this is classic Fortnite. They are always changing things, trying new stuff, and keeping the game vibrant on Xbox and other platforms.
