Capcom has made a grand announcement regarding the new update for Monster Hunter Wilds. The quality-of-life upgrade update has officially been released as Title Update 3 and it is making a big noise among the gamers. The patch introduces a new Fast Travel system that is aimed at enhancing the player’s experience and the system will automatically select the closest Pop-up Camp if the player has already designated a destination or if he has an active quest target after leaving the camp. This option is available to the players in their settings; thus, the hunters have a greater influence on their adventure. The developers have made it clear that they are listening to the players and would like to continue making improvements to the game by incorporating the feedback from the community.
For your hunting expedition, this basically means the game has turned a bit friendly towards the players. You would need to manually scroll down the Fast Travel list every single time, but now, the system knows your destination, and automatically picks up the nearest starting point. This is one of the little things which become very helpful when you are busy collecting monster materials for hours. The crew behind Monster Hunter Wilds is still saying that one of their goals is to improve the game according to the players’ opinions, and this update indeed shows that they are attentive The game is getting slightly more tolerant.
Meanwhile, the travel improvements announced by the official spokesperson turned out to be the main point of the announcement, while the truth was that the players expressed their wish lists and grievances in the replies. The comment section transformed into a huge feedback mess revealing the next wants and needs of the community, which are really frustrating or have to be fixed or added.
One of the most frequent requests from the community came from the user ALLHAILTYRANNUS who begged, “Whoever allows us to hunt monsters freely without activating a quest.” This is the feeling that many hunters want to have more freedom to wander and interact with monsters outside the strict quest structure. It reflects the long-standing argument of the open-world versus Monster Hunter’s mission-based approach.
Complaints over the weapon balance issue were also among the replies. DoltOwner boldly called for “PLEASE BUFF the HBG, BOW, and LBG,” while s4db0ys2000 expressed his displeasure saying, “Make charge blade great again please, why must you nerf it every other game.” The charge blade players are really suffering from the nerfs lately. And the ranged weapon users are quite dissatisfied too. An offbrandtwink mentioned the hunting horn problem: “Can the hunting horn have a follow-up for the offset? It’s a lot of work for very little payout.” Ouch, that’s hard when your favorite weapon feels weak.
The performance crowd was also there, with Mr. Hugelberg saying very bluntly: “Perfomance guys, perfomance should be your one and only priority before touching anything else.” That’s hard to argue against – drops in frame rates are the last thing you’d want when you’re dodging a monster’s mighty blow. TheBlackSoul even made a sarcastic comment about “soup/performance mode on ps5,” which, honestly, sounds delicious but probably is not the ideal setting for gaming.
Among some of the more constructive suggestions was AvineahrKSol who asked SOS quest filters to show only auto-accept sessions, a point raised by several other players as a very important quality-of-life improvement. Zen took this further, saying “a ‘random sos’ option for people who just want to hunt anything with a press of a button” – honestly, that sounds amazing for times you just want to get into some action without the hassle of menu navigation.
The fashion hunters did not also stay out of the picture. AlxLvUa asked “Please add Palico armors from World as layered” while chillinskey just simply asked “let me layer over akuma.” The reason is that, let’s be honest, being a huge part of the endgame in Monster Hunter is to look extraordinarily glamorous while defeating the elder dragons.
The most interesting thing is the difference in the players’ viewpoints. Min-maxers are busy arguing about the weapon balance, fashion hunters are all about vanity, performance enthusiasts are asking for less lagging gaming, and the quality-of-life advocates want better system and matchmaking. It is a reminder of the strong diversity of the Monster Hunter community.
The developers at Capcom will indeed have a hard time dealing with such a wide range of conflicting interests. However, it is certainly a good sign that they persist in communicating through these Guild Reports and in making changes based on the feedback they have received. Even though the automated fast travel feature might be seen as a minor issue, it reflects that they are looking after the little things which eventually result in a better overall experience.
The anticipation of which community requests will be granted in the upcoming updates will be a constant as Monster Hunter Wilds continues to evolve. Are we going to get those weapon buffs? More layered armor options? Better SOS filters? Only time will tell, but for now, hunters can benefit a little from more convenient travel between their monster-slaying sessions. Really, when you are carrying weapons bigger than your character, every little bit of convenience is a lot, whether you’re playing on Xbox or another platform.
