During the newest Nintendo Direct, Skybound Games dropped a crazy announcement for this intriguing title called Goodnight Universe. It’s a game where one plays Isaac, literally a 6-month-old infant with psychic powers. And yes, psychic baby Isaac turns Nintendo Switch 2-compatible come November 11. The internet lost its mind, as expected.

The introduction goes first, because… a baby? Psychic powers? That must be the most cute thing on earth or the beginning of a horror game that no one ever needed. The trailer showed Isaac levitating things with his powers: toys, puzzles, and all around just a little overpowered child. Rated E. So, no, this ain’t just a whack Binding of Isaac sort of thing, as much as gamers couldn’t resist making comparisons.

William B.King would say: mention of Binding of Isaac meant a whole flood of ensuing jokes. One simply said, “So family-friendly Binding of Isaac. Got it.” Another said, “Does he live alone in a small house on a hill?”, a clever homage to the indie classic. The devs at Nice Dream Games themselves joked, “We can’t wait to bring baby Isaac to the Switch 2!”

There were those who remained unconvinced. Just feeling confused, really, like The Brazilian Moisés who tweeted (translated): “Look at the kind of game Nintendo shows in a Direct… 🤡🤡🤡” Others like Teunail were actually hyped, noting it “has been a real wait since the first reveal [of] Switch 2 in April 2025.”

Then, came crashing the mention of marvelous “NO WAY FRANKLIN RICHARDS” from users referring to the psychic kid of the Fantastic Four. One jokingly said, “Giving Franklin Reed vibes,” and… that’s being honest. Anyone who’s read the comics knows that baby is OP.

The trailer itself? Surrealistic: Isaac’s crib emits cosmic energy; toys orbit him as if they were planets; at one point, he outright levitates. It feels like “what if Toy Story had a baby with Stranger Things.” Skybound remains tight-lipped for now, but with the November release date, fans won’t have to wait very long to decide if this is genius or just… weird.

Going by some, it is even “literal baby games,” much to the joy of others who want to play as a tiny psychic. The Switch 2 launch lineup is becoming rather *interesting,* to say the least. Will Goodnight Universe turn to cult status or just another meme? Time will tell. That much is for sure: these will be the showstopper topics of gaming culture.

Hey, if nothing else, that is one great twist on the hero’s journey. Most heroes are grizzled warriors or upbeat teens. This one? A baby. A baby who would probably stomp Ganon in a heartbeat. Nintendo are really pushing the envelope.

So mark it: November 11. Grab them pacifiers and be prepared for some baby brainwave harnessing. Or just torch the bonkers combo with lots of laughter. Either way, Goodnight Universe is going nuclear.
