But the tweet itself was just, “Unexpected variables can lead to unexpected outcomes ☣️,” which sent fans into uniquely wild frenzy trying to figure out what the cryptic thing might mean; apparently, Caustic has a cat, and that cat might have taken a step toward revolutionizing the deadly gas formula.
The tweet was made along with a photo that initially looked like just one of Caustic’s many horrible lab outcomes. Yet a deeper perusal of the replies unlocked the whole translation of what seems to be Caustic’s very own journal. The entries narrated how a stray cat (Artemis, apparently) stormed into his lab and enhanced his toxic gas by knocking a pepper into one of his chemical mixtures.
Breaking it down:
– Day 1: Caustic undertakes further tests with plant toxins-on some rats (classic).
– Day 2: Paw prints! Intruder alert.
– Day 3: The cat gave him the slip but also dropped off a dead rodent?
– Day 4: Experiments fail. Cat drops a pepper into formula.
– Day 5: This pepper gas is way stronger than it used to be.
– Day 6: Cat becomes official Caustic unwitting lab assistant.
The gamers immediately lost it. Some, like @DaraLaMalice, joked that should Caustic ever pet the cat, it’d “quickly become bolognese.” Others, like @DemonWriterX, demanded “pictures or video of Revenant petting the cat, but evilly.” Meanwhile, @tun_jilu praised this “small lore drop,” calling the idea that Caustic begrudgingly bonds with Artemis “so cute.”
Beyond all the memes, this could mean actual gameplay alterations—if the spicy cat shenanigans buff Caustic’s gas, then that is huge for competitive play. His traps are already a nightmare in the tight spaces—now just imagine with an extra kick!
Of course, not everyone was all about the lore. Either way, the Apex community is eating it up – because who doesn’t love an antihero scientist being outsmarted by a cat?
