Some news broke out from Epic Games, which created a frenzy among Fortnite players-well, not really. There is a bug in the game that prevents players from claiming the FNCS Coin Emoticon Twitch Drop, and they are working to solve it. So, if your locker is empty, just sit back and relax-the emote will come, just a little later than expected.
The problem started after Epic disclosed the FNCS Coin Emoticon as the Twitch Drop promotion. If you’ve ever missed it, Twitch Drops are rewards given for just watching Fortnite streams with your Epic and Twitch accounts linked. Easy, right? Well, usually. This time around, something glitched, and the emoticon simply never made it into the player’s inventory as it was supposed to.
So, in a nut-shell, they apologized on Twitter and gave assurance that they are working on the fix. They assured that the FNCS Coin Emoticon would be delivered to eligible players-players who actually linked and watched the streams-required sometime next week. No day, just…next week…classic Epic keeping us guessing.
Now that’s the harsh truth-The drops for Fortnite via Twitch is still a very crazy roller coaster. Sometimes it is flawless and other times….not so much. Remember that one time, right at the middle of a major tournament, the system went kaput, so players actually missed out on a few delightfully exclusive rewards? Now, that was messy. At least this time, they have made an official statement regarding the delay and are not hiding from it.
The FNCS Coin Emoticon is a flashy little flex-a digital trophy that declares you competitive Fortnite competitor. To the serious players, missing out on even a small cosmetic is considered a real L. But hey, at least delaying it will not be as bad as delaying skins or pickaxes.
Think about how fast the tweet came out-the immediacy suggest they knew there was something wrong almost right after it happened. They didn’t wait a few days of player complaints then come to acknowledge the issue. A good step up from some previous controversies that took…well, let’s just say “awhile.”
So what-does this mean for players now? If you linked your accounts and watched the streams, just sit tight-the emote is coming. If you haven’t linked your accounts yet…what are you waiting for? Go do that because, who knows when the next Twitch Drop is going to roll in. And when it does, you want to hit the ground running-glitches or not.
In the grand Fortnite drama scenario, this is fairly minor. No crashes, no ruined tournaments, just, a late little digital trinket. But at the same time, it does serve a gentle reminder that no matter how foolproof the system can seem, it can stumble every once in a while. Let them sort it out smoothly next week-because, if there is one thing Fortnite players hate more than bugs, it is waiting.
