The unexpected fighting game 2XKO is going into a beta phase for PC starting September 9, and Riot Games has inadvertently gotten right into the middle of all this.
The reactions, in true 2XKO fashion, have ranged from “hype” to skepticism-or some individuals raising their eyebrows, looking around, and asking, “Wait, wasn’t that already in beta?”
Before we get into that, the first point: 2XKO-that very word feels awkward to type-is Riot’s take on fighting games. The fighting universe with a League of Legends twist: characters from League entering into 2v2 battles-a bit of a fresh take for the fighting games. But, well, this one feels as if it has been under development forever. Some would adamantly argue that they managed to try it out some years ago. One comment just goes to show-it gave, “Played beta like 2 years ago. Thought this game got scrapped😭.” So, uh, what gives?
So it appears that Riot has been carrying out alpha tests for quite some time under the codename Project L. But come September, it’s the very first real official beta under the 2XKO moniker! That is, for one matter, somewhat odd in timing. One user joked, “Beta after 8+ years of dev time is crazy,” and I agree.
The FGC is divided by this, though. Some are hyped- “Great to see a new fighting game hitting beta soon,” said one optimistically-while others are not-so-enthusiastic. One said, “This game is DOA,” and another, “Worst fighting game of the upcoming years.” Ouch.
That’s when the SoulCalibur fans chime in with “anything but soulcalibur 7.” Did Riot personally insult you? Meanwhile, some random delusional one wants Sett in the roster, tweeting “Falta sett @riotgames denme la beta 👍.” In case anybody cares, it means, “Missing Sett, @riotgames give me the beta 👍.” Priorities, buddy.
And in the meantime, conspiracy theorists have their good and bad. One reply says, “Mark this date cos Arcane comes back to Fortnite for this collab watch.” What? Are we speaking about some secret crossover that nobody has let us in on so far? Or it might really be nothing but wishful thinking. Whatever-welcome to the show.
The deal now is that: The 2XKO beta will occur with or without the FGC’s blessings. Will it hold up to the hype? Or will it missy in the drizzling rain-hard as a missed combo? Time alone will tell. But what is sure is that the game has already caused enough buzz. That’s half the battle in the gaming arena.
You want to mark your calendar for September 9, at least if you’ve got a bit of a wondering about this new game. Or don’t. The internet will give their opinions anyway, and that’s the obvious part.
