Nintendo really went out for the Nintendo Switch 2 release of Donkey Kong Bananza, and gamers are totally losing it over this chaotic banana escapade, for sleep! The official Nintendo America Twitter account gave a nebulous tease, saying, “Weekend plans βœ…,” sparking replies filled with midnight binges and DK legacy debates. So much hype!

First things first, let’s talk about the game. Donkey Kong Bananza is exactly as you would expect: one crazy destruction-heavy temblor in which smashing is encouraged and practically required. DodgerWAKE summed it up nicely: “It’s just too fun smashing things.🍌” And honestly, I agree. Every barrel toss and ground pound feels so damned satisfying, like popping bubble wrap, but on a highly destructive level.

But that felt like pure chaos to some. They are deep into hunting for banana-meters to the last one, like whateve55329761 (side note: Nintendo, if you’re listening, this would be an awesome update). Others, like Rena, are using this one for therapy: “Crushing everything is a 10/10 stress relief.” You just can’t argue with that logic.

Time was lost. Millard Fillsmore came clean, “I started playing last night, thinking the game was unusually slow at first. Next thing I knew it was 1:00 am. 🀷🏻” Classic Nintendo; lure you in with a “just one more level” lie until the sun is up.

All in all…not willing to be convinced. This triggered heated arguments about the backwards capability (or lack thereof) of Switch 2. Werewolf Freak derailed the thread into a tangent on Wii U pads and GPU splits while others, such as J_ROOST, keep on complaining about the lack of new DK since the Wii U days: “Donkey Kong hasn’t had a new game since the Wii U,” they lamented, dragging Star Fox and Kid Icarus along for the ride.

And… there was a wild different alternative of comments. One must say Emily Wiseman took the tweet in an extreme divergent direction-though we are 100% here for bananas and not drama.

Pre-order issues? Yep, also that. Mark Korczynski was bitching about Target screwing up deliveries, while Frank Stallion is patiently waiting for his copy by playing MLB The Show 25. Priorities, everyone.

Donkey Kong Bananza is surely the kind of chaotic fun with which Nintendo likes to operate. Be it smash for smashy-smashy gameplay, neat nostalgia, or DK just yeeting barrels at everything for the sheer joy of it-this one really hits. Now, excuse while we go-trashing.-interrupting environment. 🍌πŸ’₯
