Square Enix again: a cryptic tweet asking for the community to air its voice, and boy did it spur responses! The tweet simply read, “Let’s hear/see them,” attaching a link, and the replies poured in endlessly: they wanted Square Enix to do more remasters and roast the company till the dirt stuck. So, you could safely say the replies got down to business.

First came the Drakengard stans: Someone called Moggleberries said, “Never getting a Drakengard 3 remaster” without any sort of boost. And HOMOGRIMOIRE put down the law: “Scariest NieR enemy is the Queen Beast. Give us the Drakengard 1 remaster and Drakengard 3 ver 1.22 remakester!” That, essentially, is a cry in the wilderness from people who really love these cult titles and whom Deep Square Enix refuses to acknowledge, much to the chagrin of longtime fans.

And then we got the NiER men and women with opinions. Players such as Inmate7269 and Flare Double talked of in-game enemies that were really scary: the Queen Beast or the Mourning Mother. The real horror, they contend, was that no progress or update was happening on NieR Re[in]carnation offline, while TatacawVersus was crying emojis: “Releasing Nier Reincarnation offline 😭😭😭.”

And it wasn’t just the games: Here are all of the business decisions of Square Enix getting grilled. Brody kept it straight: “Square enix, those guys block chances of new games and ports from coming.” Then CalcifersCastle put in a meme with a dumpster fire labeled “PC Ports,” only to show the common anguish of the lack of support from the company. Don’t let that devilish meme from SmullDruid scare you away: “Without Brazilian Portuguese translation in FFTC, you won’t see the color of my money.”

There were a few more insane ones. ShyGodot commented, “That Ikea Meatball someone forgot under the fridge for 3 months,” with a cursed image. Then, the actor who was fearless in-game stated, “What I fear most is the Square Enix crew, who aren’t giving out any information about if, when and how things will continue.”

Some even felt like some kind of breath of fresh air. Pimers_Ayaya confessed: “I’m yet to play the Nier games :(“—someone get this person a copy, stat! Firevolt2 shared some incredibly intense clips of their hardest encounters to prove that even the scariest enemies can’t kill the love for the franchise.

Because, basically, there is this snobby fan base from Square Enix, very vocal when demanding more. Be it remasters, better ports, or any sort of communication, the players shout literally everything they want to the rooftops. Will the company listen? That’s the real question here. Right now, one can just sit and watch the mess unravel on Twitter and pray for the best. Or at least another cursed meatball meme.
