The official Apex Legends Twitter account from Respawn entertained the busy battle royale community with a great question: “If you could 1v1 anybody in Apex, who would it be?” And, oh, the replies came in with spicy hot takes, hilarious roasts, and especially offbeat challenges.
The tweet with a screenshot of two legends dueling in Firing Range set off quite the chaotic reply chain. Some players took the opportunity to mention the names of those whom they would like to set up for a duel, while others… let’s say… ventured down a more personal road.
An angry response from Kashmir Osiris (@IhySoda) was “I wanna 1v1 every 3 stacking meta slave low life nobody.” That was a bit of pent-up frustration over the ranked meta. In contrast, Ahmed Khalifa (@N_eshta) went to the point: “The king octane!” Much love for the stim addict on wheels.
The comebacks were swift, with Will (@William23R) and Jay (@TheboyJayD”) going back to their usual trash talk: “last time i check, DEAD BODIES DONT TALK… and the last time we was in the firing range…” to which Will responded with a smug anime character meme. The apex of such banter is what makes this community so much fun.
Some of the players got creative about their 1v1 requests. H0TSH0T (@H0TSH0TFPS) very… specifically offered a place to race: “1v1 Sparrow but in my bedroom.” We can’t quite imagine the rules that would apply there, but it’s an intriguing image.
The thread held a very competitive spirit as many players issued challenges to content creators and pros. Warlord0018 (@Warlord00017) admits that he wants to fight @Regal_Wanderer but knows well that “that chick would murder me 😂” — respect with self-aware acceptance of his likely fate.
Other responses devolved into complaints about the game itself. Anus (@anusyuxi) set out a rather quid pro quo: “How about I 1v1 the head staff and if I win you actually fix the game. Deal?” Oof. Some serious dev attention is what he is trying to get there.
The community had its cute moments too, like Spencer (@SpencerA__) saying he’d challenge @bouncybluer “because the confidence boost would help out a lot xoxo.”
Meanwhile, iBackPackGG shared the most unwittingly relatable answer: “On God I would whoop my own ass” — Basically, your worse enemy sometimes in Apex is yourself.
In response, a Japanese player called nice_fuse (@nice_fuse) expressed concerns about matchmaking, suggesting that Respawn monitor all mode matches and compare the best and worst differences to improve or adjust the matchmaking method. This instigated a debate about the present condition of Apex ranked and mixtape playlists.
A wide variety of answers demonstrates how heated and emotionally agitated Apex Legends players get on matters concerning their favorite battle royale. Whether calling out rivals, joking among themselves, or even criticizing the game’s actual systems, this community knows exactly who they’d like to see go head-to-head against them in an all-out 1v1.
These players in this Twitter thread showed that if Respawn ever announced an official 1v1 mode (not that Firing Range for private duels doesn’t already exist) they’re down to settle their own grudges one-on-one. Some of these matchups may mysteriously see the light of day in community tournaments or creator events, so trash talk may be left to the replies for now — because, trust me, Apex Legends battles don’t just occur in-game!
