Bungie brought a great update that supplies the Destiny 2 player base with new cosmetics. From July 7, 10:00 a.m. PDT until July 15, 9:59 a.m. PDT, any purchase on the Bungie Store will give you all six promotional emblems for free, including the almost unreasonably elusive Knit One, Purr One. They would get even more interesting: The change is retroactive; everybody who bought something during the sale gets the emblems too.
Here are the emblems:
– Anomalous Signal
– Between Stars
– Huygens’ Trove
– Lockbox
– Threads of Light
– Through the Heart
The company confirmed that digital goodies will land in players’ mailboxes on July 11, 2025. This is probably in response to some community grumblings about the emblems being too hard to get – because seriously, when is the Destiny community not having an opinion about digital cosmetics?
The player reaction has been somewhat “varied.” One said you have to whack out $7 for the digital soundtrack to qualify, while some others complained that the $78 for international shipping is downright ludicrous. One player with the Twitter handle @Telosbudo called those emblems “NFT equivalent virtual items” – probably the harshest criticism on the thread.
Some aren’t thrilled, either. Some have mentioned continuing issues, from @sanderekeberg1 claiming payment errors in her submissions all while her card was charged through to @OrdGtrr demanding some smooth PvP improvements with a quip: “Campaigns are cool, but that alone won’t keep people coming back,” while the Neon Fade emblem debate was brought back to life with @RoBBins0096 questioning why it’s still locked past content creator giveaways.
The Bungie Store has been a controversial topic since day one–remember the $150 silver bundle that no one really asked for?–but a little attempt to listen to feedback in emblem destocking cases is not a bad thing. Whether one sees this as a genuine W for the players or a moment of damage control is going to depend on how salty they are today.
For those who really want to make a profit, the sale still has a couple days to run. Maybe go ahead and use PayPal if you’re scared of the credit card errors. And international guardians? Easier sticking to digital purchases unless $78 for shipping burns a hole in your pocket.
At the end of the day, this is just one more batch of paid-for cosmetic options for those players who would have bought merch anyway. So now, maybe next on the list would be playlist complaints and PvP issues to be attended to… but hey, baby steps? Well, Between Stars looks fancy enough for my mains.
These being fixed is wildly ironic- go straight to history books as @Puzzled_Trump said, “Crazy that this even had to be corrected.” At least they’ve got this one fixed quicker than some of their sandbox tuning updates; there’s a silver lining for ya.
So yeah, if you have second thoughts about getting some Destiny merch, now’s about the time. Just don’t expect the community to stop complaining about, well… everything else. There are certain things up in the Tower that never change.
