Marvel Rivals is putting through a huge change into the progression system, and the player base… well, they are just not vibing with it. Next season will get rid of daily challenges once and for all, and instead, weekly missions will become a thing. This announcement was tweeted via the official Twitter handle, sharing a whole lot of bizarre opinions, perplexity, and some all-caps meltdowns.
What that means: Basically, instead of logging in every day to do some quick and easy objectives, players will be given a list of weekly missions to tackle. In practice, good for the casual player who does not intend to grind every day. Reactions, on the other hand, are quite varied. Some gamers feel heartbroken over losing their daily grind, and some others say, “Finally, I’ll get to touch grass without FOMO.”
One of the biggest concerns is that this might somehow hinder battle pass progression. A player, whose handle was @Ventornado, straight asked whether this change is going to make finishing the pass easier or harder-what a great question! The developers have yet to talk about the math behind it yet a few suspect that it might in someway slow down the progression. @StephenPhillip0 seized upon this, pointed out that with seasons now shorter, only two months instead of three, that the weekly system of some sort might be trying to compensate in some way.
Then comes currency issues. @killzombieboy said, “didn’t they say they were going to give out more chrono tokens lol”-and honestly, that’s how I feel too. Meanwhile, @supershy_onyx dropped the bomb: “honestly they should just get rid of this currency system for the battlepass and let it be progressed from xp.” I support that.
Now, there are the defenders of the dailies crying out in praise for what might have been. @gaming_ribbon asked, “now why would you remove smth that made ppl wanna login everyday?” To @irontosh, “the daily missions motivate me to play every day… I finish it in 3 hours and then what?” That post-grind emptiness hits different.
The quiet majority may just be winners in this exchange. @Keiiraxe led the charge with a point: “benefits players who don’t have the time to play everyday.” In the meantime, @HotGamerRusko put it simply: “Less grinding always better.” You cannot argue with that one.
The strangest thing? A couple of players haven’t even seen this as a change. @yairtheking900 rings out, “Ain’t No Way Dont We Have These Already?” which resonates with that feeling of walking into a room and forgetting why.
What is abundantly clear is that Marvel Rivals wants to shake things up. Whether or not this counts as a quality-of-life enhancement or makes the already slow progression gnaw on the sores of despair remains to be seen. So, tipped off by the uproar, the developers will most probably fan over the feedback, and a few adjustments may be silently dropped during the next season.
So in the meantime, it shall be a wait-and-see issue for all community members, while the implementation of this system unfolds in the eyes of the next season. Smooth sailing, or mass uprising? Get ready with popcorn; the discussion has only just begun. On the brighter side, nobody is going to feel bad for skipping one day anymore.
