Powered Up Season 17 was announced by Respawn, and the battlefield is now abuzz with speculations on the alterations put into Phase 1. All the buzz aside, the blog explains everything: new energy, new chaos, and some unknown forces ready to jostle the very meta.
Well, the biggest thing about Season 17: Powered Up definitely means an energy-type theme-level overhaul. New weapons? Lightning effects? Maybe a map update that integrates power zones or something along those lines? The devs still have not spilled all the beans on it, but the teaser image, with what looks like a glowing energy core, now promises some sparks.
With the new-seasonal updates among which are some mentioned in the blog post linked to in the tweet above, we now come to the usual stuff: new Battle Pass, fresh cosmetics, and possibly a new Legend thrown in to shake the roster up. Respawn has been making a new Legend one of their staples every season, and thus players are filled to the brim with guesses of who it could be. Some put their hopes in another support-type Legend, while others veer towards a high-mobility attacker. Either way, this is another upside-down of the meta.
Map changes? You bet. Events that change the battlefield every season one way or another. New POIs appear, new installations to refortify, terrain transmutes, altogether new maps or lands. Olympus captures the spotlight for now, but World’s Edge is due for a change of her own. What if the power grid gets switched on this time? That would be insane-can you see it: fighting within a zone where all your abilities are supercharged?
Balance changes must be announced every Apex season too. Some Legends certainly need buffs (I’m looking at you, Crypto mains), maybe some Mechanicals will get nerfed (Seer mains prepare yourselves). Weapon buffs could be in the cards as well-who knows; possibly R-99 gets another recoil nerf; maybe Mastiff will become the go-to shotgun. That is how Respawn keeps the players entertained.
For the first time, hardly a single reply graced the tweet! Usually, the Apex community goes loud whenever we get some new infos. Could it be everybody’s noses are glued to the blog post with no comments coming out of that? Or is the excitement building silently with eyes crossing in hopes that there won’t be any server issues on launch day (good luck with that).
Needless to say, Season 17 is set to be the big one. Whether you have been here since the very inception or just hopping into the scene, there is so much to grind for. New cosmetics, new challenge, and more than likely some broken mechanics that will get patched in a week. Classic Apex, if I may say!
So, go ahead with that browsing of the blog post if it hasn’t already been done. And get ready for some electrifying moments shortly upon landing of Powered Up!
