With many alterations looming over Team Secret, Valorant is full of speculation about whether or not it is the right move. Reportedly, the team is parting ways with Jremy and 2GE, with JessieVash entering a somewhat odd period of transition to become a sub/assistant coach. The news, as initially relayed by @E4EQUIP, has generated a plethora of reactions ranging from supportive to cruel to utterly bewildering.
These are what the roster changes are all about. The departure of Jremy is arguably the most controversial one. Many think that he has had years and years to improve but remains mostly inconsistent, especially with the Operator. One @miraie_x stated, “Ah yes, don’t remove the guy that was given 4 straight years to improve as a duelist and as an op player yet didn’t improve in the slightest.” Ouch! Others, meanwhile, felt that Jremy might still be able to improve with the right environment: “Anyone in T2 PH will be happy to have Jremy, his op is bad but his rifle and aim are def above average in T1. Just consistency problem.”
And with performances being questioned a lot of times, 2GE felt some heat too. @AdrianJerichoB2 felt that 2GE was “underperforming in a lot of matches and makes bad decisions when lurking or even holding an angle.” That is not exactly a glowing review for anyone’s résumé in the esports world!
The changes in coaching look to be the least contentious of all moves, though not all have warmed up to the idea. For example, @xMiraie joked, “They never won with JessieVash on the team either 🤣🤣🤣.” Harsh, but that’s how esports Twitter goes.
That leads us to the question of what remains in store for Team Secret. Some are interested in new talent, with @q1ce_03 encouraging them “to scout a talent like Patmen in the local scene.” Some call for building a different way, as does @reqru1t, saying build around Wild0reo and invy, “good 2 to build for tbf.”
And then there’s that wild card: what about invy? Yet another fan, @DahVin39, pleaded straight up, “Please just release invy, that guy deserves a better home.” Oof.
Anyhow, Team Secret is evident to be in a rebuilding phase now. Whether any of this is going to be successful at VCT Pacific Stage 2 remains to be seen, but if there is one thing Valorant fans aren’t afraid to share, it’s their opinions.
What do you think? Smart moves or desperate shuffles? In any case, the drama has barely begun.
