SNK had a panel at the Evo 2022 event today, where they unveiled King of Fighters 15, their most recent fighting game.
There hasn’t been a new trailer for KOF15, which is expected on Sunday, but there have been a few announcements of information. Awakened Orochi Team will be launched on August 8th, according to the business.
The developer also revealed that King of Fighters 15 cross-platform multiplayer is in the works for all versions of the game.
Despite the lack of a specific timetable, the studio does mention that a crossplay update is scheduled for 2023.
The King of Fighters 15’s cross-platform play is currently being developed, according to the team of Chief Producer Yasuyuki Oda, Associate Producer Joshua Weatherford, and Game Director Kaito Soranaka, who made the announcement during an SNK developer panel at EVO 2022.
Currently, the game is playable on the PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The SNK team does not yet have a crossplay release date, but they do pledge to provide it as soon as it is available.
While The King of Fighters 15 received the majority of the attention, the SNK team is still working on Samurai Shodown and will be collaborating with Code Mystics to incorporate restoration netcode in a future release.
The restore will be included in the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game (through Steam and the Epic Games Store).
Unfortunately, due to technical restrictions, it won’t be accessible for Google Stadia or the Nintendo Switch. The GGPO solution currently employed in The King of Fighters 15 will serve as the foundation for the Restoration netcode update, which will be made available in Spring 2023.
At EVO 2022, SNK will have more to say than just that. The third DLC team for The King of Fighters 15 (Team Awakened Orochi) will be released this coming Monday, while the fourth DLC team reveals will also take place on that day. After the KOF 15 Grand Finals on Sunday.
