There was a tweet by Xbox Game Pass, which had a picture and said, “when this is gonna be awesome.” And, quite frankly, the replies consist of complete outpourings of excitement, demands, and total chaos. Just so you know, the image is from Gears of War Reloaded, and the people commenting within Xbox Game Pass are losing their minds. But even that’s not all: now they want remasters for Gears 2 and 3; they’re complaining about multiplayer trophies; some are even begging for a PS5 release?? What was I talking about again?
Right, so, the original tweet is vague, but the media definitely shows Gears of War Reloaded, which is already on Game Pass. But the gamers are taking advantage of the vague tweet to let loose every one of their desires and frustrations about Gears of War. Almost like a mini community forum directly under Xbox’s nose.
A fellow by the name of Dirty Naitch stated, “just finished the game,” with Xbox Game Pass responding, “Showed General RAAM what’s up,” which was fun to hear. But then it went wild real fast, with unfiltered commentary from TheLostBandit4: “Remove multiplayer trophies,” and yeah, all I can think about is grinding for online achievements; then Capcom_VS_Karl said, “Fix the game, players are already leaving.” Oof. Definitely not something you’d want to hear.
But the biggest theme is remasters of every Gears imaginable. Right? Like so many comments demand a Gears of War 2 and 3 treatment. PeaNutButter94D gave their opinion with “They should remake gears of war 2 and 3 for all consoles,” which leeonardod1 echoed: “remake gears 2 and 3 and bring them to PS5,” then krush93067 went on to say, “Now we need all Gears of War games remastered on PS5.” It really is a thing.
And then that guy SLClayton, who is basically a PlayStation player, steps in with, “Gear and Halo had a bigger impact culturally and in the gaming industry than anything Sony has produced thus far.” That’s a very bold statement, but that just points into how huge those franchises are, even for some players on other platforms.
Players get some tech trouble. TheSplendidFox brought up the camera rotation issues on PC, a common gripe with some ports. Then BillMyers741837 made mention of that Gears Ultimate has the traditional co-op, whereas Reloaded does not, sad news for the co-op fans.
But through all those demands and complaints was still love for the game. EyElEsS1488 said, “Just beat it on insane by myself, such an iconic campaign”, and called for a Gears 2 remaster. Meanwhile, a mushrooman25 gave a shout-out with “The bros in Turbo glow up.”
Xbox Game Pass interacting with the players, which is pretty cool. They gave a fun response to someone commenting about the wind whispering “hostiles.” It’s nice to see that kind of networking among the community, even if the big asks go unacknowledged.
General attitude, eh? While Gears of War Reloaded being on Game Pass has got everybody hyped, each one of them asked for way more, more remasters, more co-op features, fix for technical issues, and maybe even a multiplatform release. It is a little bit of excitement mixed with impatience; the gaming community types.
So yeah, this might look innocent enough, but it birthed an entire debate around the future of Gears of War and what Xbox players believe out of them. Whether those Gears 2 and 3 in fact get remastered or not is something we’ll have to wait and see for, but the cry is loud enough. And through all these discussions, it just speaks about how alive this franchise still is, with a rather dedicated fanbase clamoring for more content. So till then, we have to see what’s next lined up at Microsoft and The Coalition.
