Xbox Game Pass has revealed a major surprise and the first assortment of games for the New Year, which is headed by the much-expected Star Wars Outlaws. The official Xbox Game Pass account made the announcement through social media, which caused a variety of reactions among the people, with some being very happy and others being critical of the selection of games. The comments from the community seem to be an indicator of the discussions that are still going on about the value of the service and the expectations of the customers that come along with the popular subscription trying to keep its relevance in the market.
Thus, Xbox Game Pass has in fact cleared the first selection of games for the New Year, and the crowning title is Star Wars Outlaws. Everyone has almost been expecting that to happen for a long time. The post was something along the lines of “this is how you’re going to start your year, and here is the link”. Classic Game Pass, which is vague but at the same time creates hype! But then again, wow, the replies… they are indeed a mood by themselves.
And there are individuals like Daniel Carlsson who are quite grateful and say, “Have been waiting for Star Wars Outlaws for quite some time! Thanks! 🥳” which indeed sounds nice. However, if you scroll down a bit it’s like… whiplash. A guy called CyberpunkGamer94 just goes “what a terrible year start for gaming!” and the user hanabikaho gives a similar reply by saying “almost unbelievable that this month is the total opposite of what people wanted”. Ouch. Harsh but fair?? I guess it depends on personal preference.
The most astonishing part is the confusion. A lot are wondering “Which Final Fantasy?” since the picture says just “Final Fantasy” without stating which exactly. Come on, Xbox, at least let us in on the details of the master list! Furthermore, there is this guy, MaximusGamer FuriousGaming, who is inquiring, “Bro what the heck happened to buckshot roulette that was supposed to be released soon???” This is the downside of teasers – people remember everything and then make you live up to the very last detail.
Then this whole thing about… the value debate. Keith Mac (@Mac_Daddy_247) says “Gonna need some better games out of gamepass…Im barely hanging on to it as is.” Actually, we have all had that experience. Subscription fatigue is definitely a real problem. But then again, other players are stating that, for the price, it is still a good deal, especially if you share it with a friend. It’s this constant back-and-forth of “this is amazing value” and “why isn’t this game I want on here right now?”
Did I just lose my train of thought? Oh yes, I was talking about the actual games. Besides Outlaws, the graphic included the titles of Atomfall and Space Marine 2. However, people quickly reacted with queries such as “Atomfall was already on gamepass???” and “He’ll yesss even though atomfall has been on it and space marine 2,” said Chris Rambo. So it is a mixture of new announcements and perhaps some old/new stuff that has been brought back? The communication could be a bit more effective, that’s all I’m saying.
The comments may be about Resident Evil Village. One user, ron wallace (@asapron1), replied to another that “I meant everything else in outlaws lol love village,” and then ZeroFoxFX countered with “Obviously you’ve never played Resident Evil Village 🤯” and sent the link to a really scary part. Gamers are just being gamers, patronizing their favorite horror experiences. This is the community in a nutshell – passionate and always ready to argue about which game scares the most.
A recurring theme in the comments is the expectation of other titles. Many are “patiently waiting for avatar” – referring to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, I suppose. And others are asking if Avowed is coming to Premium, or where Supraworld is. It’s like every Game Pass announcement is also a wishlist delivery service for shouting your top desired game into the void. Occasionally, you can find a request like “pls gta 4 on game pass” from Mohammad Yousif. We hear you, buddy. We all hear you.
Chapter and verse, but with a little international flavor added, some replies in Portuguese. One user, kowei, says “Quer muito o final fantasy ❤️❤️❤️❤️” which simply means “I really want Final Fantasy.” The feeling is universal. And there is an entire thread in Portuguese discussing whether the price is worth it comparing to just buying games on sale. It’s the same old debate everywhere, though, just that it’s in a different language.
So, what is the conclusion of all this? Game Pass notifications were a topic of discussion among PlayStation fans as well.
