There has just been a sale concerning the DC Universe franchise put on by Xbox, but the gamers are complaining of an absence of Superman or Man of Steel games in the sale line. The sale offers attractive discounts on titles ranging from the Batman Arkham trilogy to Gotham Knights to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. However, buyers seem to express their displeasure over the glaring absence of the Man of Steel in the sale.
The official Xbox account tweeted that “Discounts as big as the heroes behind them,” but the replies soon got back to hype and frustration. While many gamers were excited about the deals, others had to point out that the so-called “DC franchise” sale is Batman-centric to an extent that one cannot claim it to be a sale for the entire DC. One user, going by the name @BeysBlades, dared say; “‘DC franchise’ that’s literally just Batman.” And honestly? They are not wrong.
One cannot argue that the Batman Arkham games stand well within the realm of fan favorites. But what about Superman? For years, gamers have been clamor-ing for a new, better Superman game, and this sale is only making it worse for them. @TheGameBurrow put it very nicely: “Not a single Superman game in sight. Smh.” @NatanaelPlaco, meanwhile, joked, “Hydrogen bomb (Arkham) I bought ages ago and two coughing babies (Gotham Knights & Suicide Squad). How about a Superman one?”
So, how were Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad received? At best, there is a bit of a mixed reception. @MichaelJ465 certainly did not hold back, calling Gotham Knights trash and saying Suicide Squad was worth less than $5. Ouch. @dragonzordgo, however, wants to give kudos for Red Hood’s design in Gotham Knights but admitted that the game declines somewhat after the story.
Also, we come to the Arkham trilogy, aka The Greatest DC Games Ever. @shy_baru7 simply put, “I’ll just take Arkham.” It was not just good vibes all around, though. @TorresIsiah called out Arkham Knight for feeling “like a tank fighting game more than a detective Batman game.” And he’s got a point there.
Truly, such a sale would be one of the best-ever deals for anybody wanting a little Batman time, but it’s now more of a drought for DC games. “DC games are in such an abysmal state that all they have is Batman. And the single game that’s more than just Batman is considered one of the worst games of all time,” quipped @Solid_Skullz. Oof.
So, of course, some used the opportunity to request some backward compatibility updates for Xbox; @CosmicGirlWorld pleaded, “Make Superman Returns backwards compatible, please. I don’t want to turn on my dusty 360 lol.”
So, if you’ve been waiting forever for a sale on any of the Arkham series, this is your moment. The shining limelight for a Superman game, however, is something that is still waiting. Maybe someday. In the meantime… lots of crime needs cleaning up in Gotham.
