Just a few hours ago, Riot Games just dropped this teaser for a VALORANT skin line, and the fans are, well, quite a few scattered reactions from outright screaming in pure excitement or confusion. The one tweet that says, “Let’s make a splash,” seems to suggest an understated collection of water-themed stuff super-lazy water guns, air-inflated pool floaties, and, without doubt, some of the wackiest animations. And the +1 reaction from the community was just crazy loud.
First of all, mad respect and appreciation for the editing work of the trailer, which was described by a player named Abivial as “amazing” and the trailer “sparks hope” for what it will look like in-game. While others take the goofy humor at face value with noki saying, “The skins are mega goofy in a fun way,” If anything, it just describes the vibe well. But some players are not really happy by the entire spirit: Mason143 went ahead to say: “Cheezy as hell,” and mojo_peste in full rage went, “When is VALORANT gonna become a good game?” Ouch.
Now, the big question: if this is the spiritual successor of the spectacularly-beloved BlastX line. Some players have the logo similarities to point it out; plaggomg22 went as far as to say, “From the creators of BlastX???” If that should be the case, Riot might have another hit on its hands-blastX fans all still into that toy gun aesthetic. Others seem unconvinced. Some just want their stretched resolution back (shoutout to Brian McAlpine screaming in a hollow void about 4:3).
And then there is the finisher. Ohhhh, the finisher. That clip at the end just had lurkers shrieking all over the globe, with rh calling it sum crazy and Errol dropping, “W finisher 😂.” Not going to spoil it, huh? Let’s just say it involves… water. A lot of it. And possibly a shark? (Giu’s tweet in Portuguese, roughly translated as: THE SHARK, THEY KILLED ME.” How you wanna take that?)
But of course, the real question: how much are they charging for this bundle? GhvstGG joked: “60 bucks to bounce on it apparently,” while Roggy is expecting players to shell out “70 or so.” SK Gaming? Already resigned to “another month living off of ice and water soup.” Priorities, people.
Ticking the boxes: the players along with hype (or rage) at the skins are begging for a summer mode event. Sakiyo goes full caps: “WE DON’T CARE IF IT’S TEMPORARY, JUST GIVE US SOMETHING LIKE SNOWBALL FIGHTS.” Fairrei09 is chiming in: “ok bring us a summer special gamemode then.” Riot, you hearing this?
So yeah, divided the internet is. Some are ready to throw their money at their screens (80sGamerAndSon: “There goes my money xD”), while others are giving them the side-eye Whenever they get the news. One thing is clear: VALORANT knows how to get people talking. Now, about that stretched res fix…
