Riot Games has a new variant of the skin pack in VALORANT and the community started to get really concerned about it immediately. The Graveyard Revenge pack is a collection of very flashy weapon skins with dully unearthly animations that will either empty your wallet or make you think about it. Reactions are really very different for all types of people.
The art in the pack includes an entire set of weapon skins among which are Vandal, Phantom, and of course, this two-handed knife that has driven some people to make comparisons with the weapons of other games. Inspect animation is just insane – one player noted that Riot just made a statement that they are going to cut down on the visual clutter and then they removed the most busy in weapon inspect. It’s a whole light show when you draw it out, and some even say it is similar to the Lights of the Sentinels in League of Legends.
Among the players, reactions are strictly divided into two parts. Some people love it very much and comments like “They set it on fire 🔥” and “Looks cool, I won’t hide” are appearing in all places. One player even said that it is “possibly the best skin they have done for a long time” which is worth saying, taking into account the history of VALORANT with premium skins. Animations get special praise while several players mention that everything looks pretty neat.
But there is also the other side of the coin. Some players describe the knife as “average” or even claim that it “looks like shit”. It’s all around this whole battle of concepts, on the one hand, a person notices that it looks “Singularity with stones” and on the other hand another one gives light to Fortnite. The killer’s sound is also criticized since the players claim it to be similar to the existing Arakh’s skins.
Interestingly, there are already a lot of players who are actually mourning for their financial capacity. Comments like “MY POCKET IS ALREADY ON FIRE” and “I’m not saving my money at all” are everywhere. One player even said that he decided not to buy skins after the champion pack anymore, but this one is so tempting. This is the power of these premium packs – they know exactly how to dupe us.
There is also a speculation around the theme of why the package is coming out now. One player said that Riot “really wants this package to sell well after killing the whole community”. This could relate to the recent changes or intrigues. It seems like they are really up to a high standard in terms of product quality.
International reactions are also quite funny. The Portuguese are calling it all “que foda” (how cool) while the French equate it to Fragpunk. The community is really international, and let it be, everyone definitely has his own opinion about the new skins.
Personally, I think the drama that a single skin can create is the most peculiar. For instance, we have heated debates over stone textures and carrying animations. But that’s VALORANT – for some players, cosmetics are almost as important as the very gameplay.
The pack contains several types of weapons and although the knife causes mixed reviews, at least the main weapons are accepted much more positively. Especially Vandal, which stands out with its original design and those crazy animations that are very much discussed.
After all, love it or hate it, but the Graveyard Revenge continues. It is yet another example of how Riot opens its wings in painting weapon skins even if they might bend the stick of optimism a little with some gamer preferences. Maybe your wallet is in danger, but at least you will have something spectacular to show for it.
Wait, what was I saying anyway? Ah, yes, the new VALORANT skins. They are here, they are controversial, and they are probably going to be sold like hot cakes despite what the dissatisfied will say. Such is the order of things in the world of competitive shooters and their cosmetic economies.
The community’s division over premium content is reminiscent of reactions to major releases on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
